Brother MFC 9700

Hi there, I am hoping someone out there can help me. I have this Brother 9700 laser all in one... I so wish I would have gotten a printer with multiple printing capabilites,.ie. Print Legal and letter at the same time.. is there a way to put another paper tray on this one? I paid a lot of money on this one, and I bought it the night before my first signing, so I was some what in a hurry to get a laser printer, was not able to do my homework on them.. TIA..

For purposes of edocs a second tray really isn't necessary. Just print everything on legal and you'll be fine.

If there's another reason you want the second tray then that's different. I'm not familiar with that printer so I dont' know the answer.

Well there are a few companies out there that require me to print on both size, they will refuse if there are certain docs that are not Letter size... So that is why I would like to do this...

Re: Brother MFC 9700 second Paper tray

According to the users manual, which I read on amazon.com, a second paper tray can be added. It is Brother LT 400. According to the manual, this paper tray can only hold letter size paper, but the tray that came with the MFC 9700 can hold legal size paper. The tray looks to be fairly inexpensive, also. It I read the manual right, this should meet your requirements.

Re: Brother MFC 9700, With Second Paper Tray

I have one, with both paper trays. But, keep in mind that if the dox are in PDF format, they will only print on the paper size that is in tray 1 ... no matter what you do in the Properties Menu. On the other hand, faxes in will automatically print on either letter or legal, depending on the paper size originally faxed, PROVIDED you have follow-up the set unstructions EXACTLY!

Re: Brother MFC 9700 Beware

I bought one of those initially. Then I discovered that it will receive and print legal sized via e-mail or fax. But....it only makes letter sized copies even if you feed a legal sized document into it. It even prints it on legal paper if you have two trays, but the bottom 3 inches are blank. I have a used one time second tray for it I will sell you cheap if you still want one.
