Hi Kevin. I found the SA class helpful just to become familiar with the forms involved. Also, a couple of SS's have asked for a copy of my NSA certificate. What I think would be helpful for us all would be a state specific guide book of forms that are filled in and areas that need to be notarized highlighted. Just the everyday general forms for typical loans, etc. I know that there would be occassions that required additional forms, etc but it would be great to have a reference on the general forms. I have searched for that but have not had any luck finding one. Anyway, hope that helps. Good luck to you!

The first thing I would do is to read and fully understand the effects and ramifications of Executive Order 455 (http://www.lawlib.state.ma.us/ExecOrders/eo445.rtf). You may not be able to perform signings, depending on your working relationships, per directive.

Thanks for posting that Paul. I have been wondering about Mass notaries/signings.

Kevin take it from a MA fellow Notary

Hi again Kevin,

Our state law does not require any certification to act as a signing agent. We do need to be properly and legally commissioned.

HOWEVER, some signing companies, though not state law, do require us to be signing agents certified by like the NNA or other recognized body. Note: No company has ever turned me down after asking me if I was certified.

I'm not a certified signing agent, but I still work with the companies and general public as a singing agent.

Remember being certified shows that you have gained educational experience and have knowledge as to what you do. Work experience can either be more beneficial then being certified. I have work experience. Which you will acquire after several months/years of engaging in this business.

Right now you should market yourself by going to the numerous signing services websites and registering yourself as a signing agent (notary public). It took a couple of months too almost a year for my business to actually become consistent. MARKET MARKET MARKET! that is the key to success!!!

FYI: Remember that you as a non-attorney notary public cannot do loan closings pursuant to the Governors Executive Order 455 (04-04). It is illegal to conduct a loan closing in MA unless if you're an attorney licensed to practice law and/or you are directly supervised by an attorney (ex: a paralegal).

If this is the Kevin I've dealt with before, then remember that if you click on my name and visit my webpage under the "MA Notary" page, you'll find the governing laws; authority; and duties of a notary public as well as the Executive Order (well... a link thereto).

Any questions you may email me directly. Have a good day and thanks again for the card!! Smiley

Korey

I'm hunting wabbits

So yesterday you asked which companies to sign up with to get some calls. And yet today you say you don't even know if you have to take an exam to become a signing agent. And by your fourth post on this board you're cheering on Korey and telling us he's "the best".

What are the odds this isn't a sockpuppet? Or Matilde Vasquez, who only waited until her SECOND post on this board to mention Korey by name, and told us how informative he was in "her" third post.

Is this the online version of hunting for easter eggs? Spot the sockpuppet? Do we get a chocolate bunny at the end of all of it?
