EIN Form Question

Is this the form SS-4 on the IRS website? Thanks!

Yes, that's the form. I recommend downloading the form, filling it out, then CALL the IRS to have your EIN set up. At the end of the call (about 10 minutes), you'll get your EIN. Then you don't have to send in the form nor wait for it to be processed and sent back (about 2 weeks).

Call 1-800-829-4933. The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday. An assistor takes the information, assigns the EIN, and provides the number to an authorized individual over the telephone.

On-line SS-4

PAW FL,

Day job done for clients all the time. You get your EIN number immediately - PRINT that confirmation. It's about two weeks before you receive the printed "official" version from the IRS.

Reason we do it on-line is we are a third party authorized to do so; i.e., we aren't the taxpayer so we can't call it it. Upside of being the taxpayer making the phone call is the form is not user friendly - other than repeatedly giving you red error message. It HATES commas and puntuation!
