Instructional Settlement
To those of you who do work for these types of companies, such as Peachtree Settlement, what would be an average fee to charge? I've been called for one assignment but before I received documents, the assignment was cancelled. I don't want to undercut my fellow notaries but I also don't want to overcharge.
Let's say your basic o/n docs loan signing is $65, what would you charge for settlement funding docs? TIA

When I created my 'fee' sheet, which is based on the zip codes that I service, one of the columns on that sheet is the "mileage fee". That's the fee that gets added my base signing fee to be able to offer a quote when someone calls for prices. The same fee is applied to my general notarizations. When called by Peachtree, I quote them my travel fee PLUS "$10 per notarial act". So, if there are 2 notarizations to be performed in my $10 travel area, that would end up being $30. You really should develop a structured and consistent fee policy for these situations. That way you won't run into, "Yesterday you told Bobby that you would only charge $30, but now your saying it's $50!?!"

Becky,
I have done one signing for Peachtree Settlements. There were eight or nine notarizations; those took time. So I would take Paul's advice to heart and charge accordingly. If you check a prior post, someone handling a Peachtree package charged $125.
