My first signing

I am going on my first signing tomorrow & i am a nervous wreck. Any tips or suggestions on how to stay cool & focused on what i am doing.

Just remember, it's one page at a time. Have the signers sign and/or initial as indicated. Once completed, turn to the next page. When it's time to notarize, stop the process and complete the notarization. Once completed, go to the next page.

Remember, do just one page at a time and you can't go wrong.

Hampton is right! I just did my first signing not that long ago and I was a nervous wreck so I posted on here also! I thought I screwed everything up, thought my life as a notary was over before it got started!

I took one page at a time and now the company just called me back for another closing! Granted they wanted me to lower my price for the distance I would travel so I had to say no, but they called anyway!

It gets easier, I promise!

Use the buddy system...

95% of the time I have a friend and/or an associate tag along with me to any type of signing. Though other notaries may raise the issue of an ethical problem stemming towards 'breech of confidentiality', I do, in my defense, always ask the client/customer if their is a problem with them sitting at the signing.

I usually use the excuse stating, "my friend is a notary in training. I'm his mentor and have asked him to come along."

There has never been a problem. The signing companies that continuously use me are aware of my companion and suggest that it is a good idea this day in age.

Allow yourself enough time to get to the borrower's house. Make sure you have all of your notary "tools". Have all of the phone numbers for the company that contacted you handy. Show them the HUD, note and TIL first, if anything is going to stop the closing it will usually be some wrong information on those documents. I can go on and on, lol, but I'll stop here and let somebody else chime in.

Good Luck Kevin, I know you'll do well.

I just read a good message on gomobilenotary.com that you should read. It was posted today "Borrower refused to sign disclosure - Loan Originator & LSAgent March 24, 2005, 6:18 am"

Congrats and best of look to you in this business!
