Re: So much for contacting the SOS

Hi all,

Last night I got sort of an off the wall call. Some guy wanted me to notarize a copy of his daughter's passport. I told him that we could not notarize copies of anything unless there was an original signature upon it. So I figure OK his daughter could sign it. Well, it turns out his daughter is all of two and a half years old. So I did a search here and got some ideas but not really state-specific.

So I decided to call the SOS office in Lansing (the state capital) this morning. As you can imagine it is all automated, and one needs to select from like seven choices none of which are really what you want. To make a long story short I spent an hour and fifteen minutes on the phone (mostly on hold) and got passed around between two or three people and then finally I get a busy signal on the other end of the line!! Rather frustrating!!

I know exactly what you mean. I get the same thing here in New Jersey! Did you try emailing them? It takes about 3 days to get an answer, but at least you do get an answer (where calling on the phone doesn't get you anything!).

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for the thought. Maybe I will try that, although actually I was hoping for a more immediate response.

(Rolling on floor laughing) "Immediate response".

Often I'm in Hartford, the capitol of Connecicut. I've gone into the SoS's Office, and even then the answer has not been "immediate".

Good luck!

Re: So much for contacting the SOS

I have the direct line on one of my old cell phones. The new system absolutely sucks!

I'll have to charge up the old phone and pass the direct number on. Josie from SOS gave it to me a long time ago, and now they transferred her to another department. She knew more than Teri Lynn Land!

Julie,

Heh, if you can come up with it (without too much trouble) that would be super. That is if it still works. TIA.
