References for New Signing Companies

I am in the process of filling out apps for new employment opportunities. Can anyone tell me if under references do the companies want who I sign for or people that can vouch for what kind of person I am. Also, is it a good thing to let one signing company contact another for a reference?

Reference in regards to job performance is what they are after i should think. I dont know how signing companies will respond to phone calls about referances, good quiestion.

That should be okay. The signing companies know that you more than likely go through other companies to get business. Do you do this full time?

For references to signing companies, I only give other signing companies as reference.
For references to title companies, I only give other title companies as references.

when i first starte dout as a notary signing agent, i filled out my applicastion listing reference. i was working with a large title company. once i filled out the reference section, the next thing i knew i was getting called from that signing company whp went behind my back to get work from the title copany i used as a reference. luckily for me, someone at the title company who i befriended, told me that the signing company called and tried get all their business., so in my opinion, dont give info on your good paying references.

Speaking of references...

I have started asking new companies that I have not done business with (especially when I see mixed reviews) for references (notaries that they have done business with). I was contacted by a company the other day and told him about the mixed reviews and he gave me several references. When I contact other notaries for references on these companies they are always happy to give me their honest opinions. They also like the idea of doing this as everyone realizes their are two sides to every story. We also end up chatting about the business as they usually start asking me my opinions. Why should we have to give references and not expect the same from these companies?
