Ride Alongs

I am extremely new to the industry and was wondering if anyone would be willing to take me for a "ride-along" for a document signing.

I live in Suffolk County, NY and will be willing to buy lunch and possibly pay for gas expenses.

I figure this is a great opportunity to learn from the experienced signing agents (although I know I will have to educate myself even further before taking on my own assignments).

If you could be of ANY assistance PLEASE contact me via EMAIL first for privacy purpose:

Email: [e-mail address]

I thank in advance all who respond.

Sincerely,
Mickey

PS- I am also willing to gain some experience working with a Signing Company first as well, does anyone know of one on Long Island?? Thanks again!!

Mickey,

I applaud you for pursuing this step.

With respect to the postscript, with all due respect you are asking the wrong question. You should not limit your scope to Long Island. There are many ss's that operate on a national scale. Sign up with a lot of them., when you feel comfortable. By the way, mortgagedocs is an excellent company to start off with: small, overnighted packages, very helpful people, lots of hints and instructions in the package, and they pay like clockwork on the fifteenth of the month for work performed in the prior month. Basically only a fifty dollar company, but the packages don't take that long.

Thank you for your input.

Regarding a signing company on Long Island, I basically meant to start with a tangible company in which I can gain some experience with first...as I progress then I had planned on using/contacting the national companies from around the US for eDocs, overnight, etc.

I will definately give mortgagedocs a shot once I have some kind of experience, thank you for your recommendation.

Any other feedback/input is greatly appreciated, thanks again all who reply!!

Mickey,

As far as mortgage docs goes, sign up with them. Don't wait until you have some experience. They are a really good company to start out with. At least that is my perspective.

i would suggest ATM Corporation. They do some great work. Their BASE fee is only $45, but you have to start somewhere. They do pay more under certain circumstances. Give them a try. The people there are very friendly too.

Mikey, in response to your qeustion: "does anyone know of one[signing company] on Long Island??"

First of all, let me welcome you into this exciting new business. I do not have years of experience as many do on this board. Each of us, new and experienced, do our own research and marketing. I would not expect another more experienced agent to tell me who their local clients are. Research and marketing is something we ought to do on our own. If you want marketing tips, read all the posts on this board. I believe it goes back a year or so. You'd be surprised how much information you can obtain on the web.

The agents on this board are very helpful, don't get me wrong. When I had a problem, some agents offered me their email address so they personally help me out. However, as notaries, we are expected to have basic notary knowledge by reading and thoroughly understanding our state's notary handbook. If a new notary ask a basic question on this board, I'll warn you, he/she will get an unpleasant earful! But take it to heart, our peers here are not trying to be mean or, some been accused of "forgeting their days when they first started." We must help ourselves before we expect others to help us.

Good luck.

I thank you for your response.

Just want to mention I have been monitoring this board for nearly a month now, gaining a great deal of information while waiting for my state issued Notary Public ID Card and Notary Term expiration date, etc.

I should be receiving my NP ID card in a few days or so now...(don't know why it has taken so long)....so I am looking to start getting some real hands on training. That is why I posted the "Ride-Along" thread.

I would like to make a contact with someone hear on the Island (Long Island) as something as a mentor, so I know how to handle myself. Even if it's for one or two "ride-along's"....something is better than nothing.

Thanks again all.

Try the "find a notary tab". Use your zip code and you can find lots of notaries. Some will have a website where you can get info on how to contact them. Good luck from there.

Try search on gomobilenotary.com also.

Sirianni is located on the Island - STAY AWAY FROM HIM !

Equity Settlement Services is located in Smithtown. Phone # is 631-715-3442. Don't know if they have a website.

thanks Are_MD,

I will take your advice and not contact Sirianni.

I will give Equity Settlement a call.

Thank you for your input

Please, do a search using keyword : "avoid", "no no" this will give you some guidance on who not to contact. If you didn't recognize sirianni, you haven't researched this board well..
