Its one of the worst I have read here in the Notary Rotary, probably you wont be paid or run a big chance of not been paid. I wouldnt take any job from them.

I don't think you're using the search function correctly because I found several threads when I entered "sign on the X" as the keyword. It's an invaluable tool on this site, I'd definitely suggest you get more familiar with it and play with it until you figure it out. You sure as heck don't want to get stuck doing a signing for a hideous company like Sign on the X.

Still waiting on payment from a loan that closed 12/21/04. I did get an email stating they were sorry but would take care off it ASAP. Of course last invoice included a late fee and notification that I would be contacting attorney on the next invoice. Will wait to see what happens.

I got a call from them tonite for a closing this evening. I didn't have one scheduled and was tempted to take it...for about a second! I have seen their name on every "no no" list out there and figured I'd save myself a lot of aggravation! Thanks again to the folks on the message boards!

Told them not to call me anymore for assignments. They pay the least and take months of calls to get payment. They do not pay when they tell you they will.

Boy I hope I don't get jumped on for this one! Well, yes I did take it. BUT, I will tell you why; in the past I have read threads on one company that I do work for. Speedy Closings. I have to tell you, I have never had a problem with them. Yes, I know that they do not pay much, but what I do is keep their jobs very local so it works well for me. I have never had a problem with speedy closings. So when Sign on the X called I spoke in detail with the woman and I told her my hesitations because of what I have read about her company. I then also thought about Speedy. The bottom line is this, if I don't get paid the first time in a timely manner, shame on me. But, if I do and continue to work for them keep it local and use them as a filler. I'm ahead of the game. As I have read hear before, basically read EVERYTHING that is posted here and make your OWN assumptions. Which so far I have. Okay, I have had my second cup of coffee, so I'm ready for my lashing! Sincerely, Linda

You shouldn't worry about a "lashing". Like you said, everyone should make their own decisions about who they wish to work with. If it is working for you, then keep it up! Good luck.

I understand your logic, but if that's the case why did you post your question in here in the first place? What's the point of asking if you were going to accept the signing no matter what we said?
There are a lot of companies that we should definitely use our own judgement on. IMO, Sign on the X is not one of them. They are probably the most universally reviled signing company I've seen on the notary boards. I wouldn't trust a word that comes out of their mouths.
Just as I don't need to actually experience being stabbed in the chest to know it's something that hurts, I also don't need to get screwed by Sign on the X to know how horribly they treat their notaries.

Re: Why ask about the company in the first place ??
I am one of the first ones that *usually* tell a person not to put much stock in a no-no list. However, I also tell them that there are any number of reasons a SS can be on a no-no list, and that one person's trash can be another person's gold mine. My second however, is that I also tell a person that if a company appears over and over in negative posts, that something is usually seriously wrong, and a red flag should go up. By doing a search, numerous posts come up for this company. My third however, is that you have received several negative posts pertaining to the payment record/history in this one thread alone, and my fourth however, is that you have chosen to accept the signing anyway. My final and fifth however, is that I will choose to ignore your postings which will begin in probably a month stating that you haven't been paid and what can you do ... It's not like you haven't been warned.

Re: Why ask about the company in the first place ??
Because I really wanted to know what this board thought of this SS. Isn't that one of the reasons we have this board? To find out what we need to know whether to ask a question or to search the boards? Yes I did take the ONE job from them. But it wasn't until I read the thread on them and spoke with the company directly in detail concerning their problems. Hey, like I said, I may get ripped, but if I do, it will only be once. If I don't, well, I have another company that I do business with. I determine who I work for. I am very grateful for all the information I gather on Notary Rotary from some very knowledgeable people. But again I make my own decisions.

Re: Why ask about the company in the first place ??
" Yes I did take the ONE job from them. But it wasn't until I read the thread on them and spoke with the company directly in detail concerning their problems. "
If a company isn't ethical enough to pay the notaries that work for them, why on earth do you think that they'll be ethical enough not to lie directly to your face and tell you exactly what you want to hear just to get you to accept the signing?
And I still don't understand why you asked in the first place. We unanimously told you they sucked and you still took the job after hearing that. So why did you want to know what the board thought of the SS? What value was it to you in making your decision? I honestly want to know this because I absolutely cannot see the logic here.
I just can't understand how anyone could read the a thread with 100% negative responses about a company and somehow think that THEIR experience will be different than anyone else had. You concede that there are very knowledgeable people on Notary Rotary, but that's of no use to you if you're going to completely disregard our advice because you "make your own decisions".
I hope that when you're calling SOX again in 2 months looking for your payment that you won't be quite as foolish to accept what they're telling you at face value. Because your check won't have been mailed the first 10 or 20 times they tell you it will was.

Re: Why ask about the company in the first place ??
I did a closing for them late last year. Waited, waited, waited. No check. I tried calling 3 or 4 times & even kept track of the names of the people I spoke with. They promised they would check it out and call me back. Well, they never did. I contacted the Mortgage Co. & lo and behold received a call that very day from SOX. They "read me the riot act". I knew I would be getting my check, which I did within 2 days. So I promised them I would advise everyone on the Notary Boards that I did get paid. I think they know what their reputation is but they keep hoping for someone to come along that hasn't heard of them and is willing to take the chance. I won't do it again though.

Just got a call to do a closing from them. They said They would pay $45. I told them i'd do it for $100.00 there was a hesitation then the "i'd have to get approval for that. I'll call you back." If they do call back i think i may have to raise the price to $125.00. this is fun.
how is it that they stay in buisness? they have such a bad rep. I quess there are a lot of new notarys to the closing game and there happy to hear the phone ring.....

This is a horrible Co. to work for. They get amnesia when you call Account Payables to check on payment and they pay a minimum of 90 days after the signing is done. (if they pay you at all) !!!!
