To all the NEWBIES out there:

This is my first post and I consider myself fairly new. I received my first assignment 3 weeks after being commissioned and have been VERY SUCCESSFUL in this business thus far. WHY? Because the search button really works!!! Anything that I have ever wanted to know is here on this board. I have read every post, every answer, and EVERY THING that BRENDATX, HISHUGHNESS, PAW/FL, AND SYLVIA/FL have ever written. I do not need a mentor becuase I have FOUR of the best mentors that anyone can ask for right here on this board!

My suggestion to all the newbies is to be INDEPENDENT and do your research. Success does not easily and its sweeter when you know you have worked hard for it. I feel that a lot of new notaries want the EXPERIENCED notaries to just hand them information. Because of the work that I do full-time, I have seen every possible error a notary can make and I have heard every possible story that a borrower can tell. I have seen fax backs come directly to our office-read the instructions. I even received 2 packages just this week that the notary sent to me instead of the title company--read the instructions!!

I work closely with several of the title companies that notaries complain about on this board regarding fees--and do you know what these vendors are saying??? ERRORS!!! Errors like the 2 packages that went to the lender that will cause the borrower not to fund on time. Errors like the notarial certitication and the AIV form not completed properly. Errors like the RTC, NOTE, and DEED either not returned with the package, not initialed, OR if the notary can be a witness, that is not done. And the best one yet---THE NOTARY DID NOT SIGN HIS OR HER NAME!!

I decided that I was going to become a notary becuase I wanted to try to make a difference making my main goal CUSTOMER SERVICE. Correct me if I am wrong, but I notice that many newbies are looking at the revenue. Yes that is a big part of it, BUT when you provide that borrower with the best CUSTOMER SERVICE ever--regardless of how the signing turned out--the title companies and signing services will see to it that the checks are in YOUR pockets? How is that you asked?? Its called a SURVEY--borrowers give feedback on you. I see them everyday. I dont know what is being said about me, but I have steady work coming from 3 particular title companies. Am I patting myself on the back?? NO!! I owe by success to this board AND MY 4 MENTORS and I thank each of you individually.

That being said: IF AT FIRST YOU DONT SUCCEED, TRY, TRY AGAIN!!! Do your own research and DONT GIVE UP!!

Re: To all the NEWBIES out there:BEWARE

The thought is nice of what Cindy/FL says but keep in mind that not all of those notaries might work for YOUR mentoring. (In other words...Don't put all your eggs in one basket) There are MANY, not just 4, that are fantastic notaries to learn from on NotaryRotary. So, take everything into prespective...because a newbie CAN bring another "light" to a topic, situation or example that the veterns might not. So, as much as Cindy/FL is stroking the "4" keep in mind there are more than that here that are just as good and some better, nicer and more positive.

It's all in the presentation folks! I agree with Cindy and Glen. Read the posts and you will have found your mentors. Don't expect to have everything handed to you.

Re: To all the NEWBIES out there:BEWARE

We still need newbies to ask some questions. If after searching they cannot find the answer. Mainly, because their wording may be different than what was previously posted which the search will be able to find subjects asked in other wording. (I know what I mean) There are always different questions. Even, if they have been posted before. That is what makes this forum fun. It just doesn't lie here dying like some other forums.

Cindy,

When I started a year ago reading this board I did like you and used the board to learn what I could about this business. I figured out who had the answers and who did not fairly quickly. I appreciate them very much...Paul, Sylvia, sue, Bob, Hugh, etc.

Glen's post below is right ... there are others who are nicer and more positive sounding than I am. I strive to be accurate... sometimes accurate is not nice.

I see two kinds of new posters...First, there are the ones who look for encouraging words, ego stroking, and to be told what they want to hear. Anything else is hateful, mean and negative. The have no real core goals of their own and will blow whichever way the wind does. Not notary material, anyhow IMHO, because for the short time they pursue the business they will do whatever is easiest-- not necessarily right or accurate.

Then, there are those who have decided what they want and come here to learn, network, and help others learn. They will succeed no matter what crap is thrown at them, and they will take their commission's purpose seriously. Obviously, this type of person is in control of their own destiny--a tender ego's need for approval is not.

If (R. Kipling)

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

If

If (D. Gates)

If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.

If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away

If

If (J. Jackson)

Sittin over here
Starin in your face
With lust in my eyes
Sure don't give a damn and ya
Don't know that I've been dreamin of ya in
My fantasies
Never once you looked at me
Don't even realize that I'm wantin you
To fulfill my needs
Think what you want
Let your mind free
Run free to a place no one dares to

How many night I've laid in bed excited over you
I've closed my eyes and thought of us a hundred different ways
I've gotten there so many times I wonder how bout you
Day and night
Night and day
All I've got to say is

CHORUS:
If I was your girl
Oh the things I'd do to you
I'd make you call out my name
I'd ask who it belongs to
If I was your woman
The things I'd do to you
But I'm not
So I can't
Then I won't
But
If I was your girl

Allow me some time to play with your mind
And you'll get there again and again
Close your eyes and imagine my body undressed
Take your time cuz we've got all night, oooh
You on the rise as you're touchin my thighs and
Let me know what you like
If you like I'll go
Down da down down down da down down
I'll hold you in my hand and baby

Your smooth and shiny
Feels so good against my lips sugar
I want you so bad I can
Taste your love right now baby
Day and night
Night and day
All i've got to say is

CHORUS (2x)

I've laid in bed excited over you
One hundred different way I've thought ya
Many, maaany
(day and night, night and day)
Allll I got to say is

CHORUS (3x)

Re: If (H. Nations)

If I could steal a wizard’s magic wand
And turn the world to everything I wish;
If I could free a genie from his bond,
Or snare that legendary grateful fish;
If I could lure a wary leprechaun,
Or catch a star escaped from heaven’s gate,
Perhaps call vassal spirits from beyond,
I know how I would use that lucky fate.

I would not seek a selfish dividend,
But my good fortune all on you bestow.
I’d keep your beauty ageless to the end,
And sow your graciousness for all to know.
I’d strew your silver laughter on the wind,
And make your tears as rare as summer snow.

To my Beloved

Valentine’s Day 2003

It wasn't long after this that the B&TW, now my B&TEW, told me the sonnets were nice, but she'd rather I swab a toilet every now and then.

Re: To all the NEWBIES out there: BrendaTX

I want to say I think that was THE most respectful, eloquent posting EVER posted. I want to say that I was very happy to see that what I said did not get a lashing. I meant it with no disrespect, just that not everyone works well with some and not everyone has ALL the answers. I do think that with who you mentioned..."Paul, Sylvia, Sue Bob and Hugh...", they are very knowledgeable. They can be assets...but I do feel that some people on here can be brutally honest where it's turned into negativity and a form to talk "down" to someone and that is unnecessary. And I think you know what I mean and who that is directed towards. You're right, we need the questions asked and a newbie might not use the right words to find the questions, but when they put a question out there they shouldn't be beat up, scolded and accussed of never checking.

Also...I want to clear up that when I said that I wouldn't mentor anymore I should've explained that clearer. I wont mentor to just anyone. They will go through an evaluation of sorts to find their intentions in regard to the industry. I feel my knowledge and help will be freely given should the notary we worthy and respect our industry.

So Brenda, thank you for being an adult and speaking and acting like one instead of having this thread turn into a circus also.

I agree with glen/IA. I'm fairly new to this business and that is totally how I've found this forum. If you don't like a question that is being asked better to not answer at all than to be hateful.

Re: To all the NEWBIES out there: BrendaTX

I want to clarify something in my previous post. I know there are PLENTY of helpful people on this board. In the 5 months that I have been commissioned, I have found every answer to any question on this board. I guess what I am trying to say is that if you do your research, you will find the answers. I am not trying to discourage anyone from asking questions---just try to find the answer yourself first.

Its just so happens that I look up to Brenda/TX, HisHugness, Sylvia/FL and Paw/FL. Whenever I had questions and searched the board for answers, it has always been one of their responses that helped me.

BrendaTX

That was the best thread I've read the 1 month I've been on here and I truly enjoyed the If poems again It had been along time since I read them. I kind of miss poetry.

I do search for different answers when I have the time like on weekends but, During the week I just can not find the time to search out the answers so I ask a question. My teachers used to always tell me the only dumb question is the one not asked.

Thanks
