YOUR DRESS CODE?

I have a question about everyones personal dress code policy.

I have a policy........... here goes ..........I wear a suit at a purchase always!!!!! Or wear a coat I won't take off that looks like a jacket ha ha I wear nice outfits to refi's. If a broker is attending I dress in the cloths that make me look professional. I perfer suits, but if I am going to a home that people are dirty (never know) b/c I dry clean my expensive suits (i'm not happy). This has happened to me several times. Even on a Sat I dress nice. I noticed someone refering on a post to wrinkled cloths-also I have seen other closing agents in unprofessional attire. Just a fun question to see what others do.................... people ask me if I am a lawyer (no, lawyers don't flip your papers lol) I swear I will get my finger ripped off with my fake diamond ring everyone comments on (yikes) fun stories welcomed!
I learned my lesson when I wore this beautiful dress with panty hose & heals. Guess what? wrong bra (showed a little cleavage) The PASTOR wrote a letter about it, yep the cleavage. He never mentioned the 10 huge mistakes the title company made that held up the closing. Well- I only wear that dress going to church ha ha hope everyone keeps smiling..........

I very rarely wear a suit. (This IS Florida!) But I never wear jeans, shorts, tee-shirts, etc. to a signing. At a minimum, it is business casual as defined by banking standards, even on Saturday, Sunday and holiday signings. The signers can be, and often are, dressed in shorts and tee-shirts, even bathing suits. Had one signer in nothing but his skivvies. Glad my wife didn't go to that one. Smiley

Always the same

From toe to neck: Argyle socks, wingtip oxfords, dress slacks, colored buttondown shirt (usually oxford broadcloth), color-appropriate patterned tie, no jacket or blazer.

Are you straight? (no offense) Just kidding I would love to meet a guy that has taste in cloths!!!! Ahhh maybe someone helps you pick out this eye catching, mouth watering attire? But do you smell good too? No embarrassing stories? I'm dissappointed.........at least you didn't direct me to the search post ha ha

Ho, ho, ho, ha, ha, ha! (blushing)

As one friend said, "Straight but not narrow."

I haven't had such complements in a while. The only assistance I've had is a former girlfriend buying me a brand of cologne I hadn't tried; I've been wearing it ever since. And yes, I've caught a couple of attractive women sniffing me gently.

As for embarrassing stories, both Sandi (my wife) and I could tell a few. Umm, what kind did you want to hear?

Gee, you mean I should have pointed you at my Web Site that sells booklets telling tonsorially challenged notaries where to get their hair cut/styled?r It's a steal at only $175!

We must be careful though. Too handsome or smell too nice. Might get some borrowers to ask us for a date lol. Has that happened to anyone?

Re: Always the same

Yes (i always imagine by the looks their girlfriends are in the trunk or basement).........but, I always try to get the business of really hot brokers. I thought one office only hired good looking guys. Then the "muscle" guy tried moving my car & couldn't get it in reverse. I drive a vw 5 speed diesel engine jetta........ that kinda killed it for me lol

I too am in FL and my outlook on dress code is to wear something that looks nice, covers everything and is comfortable for you to wear. I have found that when I am comfortable with my dress, my additude and appearance show the borrowers that I know what I am doing and am a professional.
I am not saying go too casual such as shorts or tank tops, but business casual seems to work for me. I do dress more strickly professional attire when going to offices for signings, as apposed to borrowers homes.
This is just my comments on what works for me. BK/FL

I buy most of my clothes at Sam's, outlets, TJ Maxx.
I am not above looking at certain resale shops for quality jackets.

I try to plan a good color theme- it's affordable and easy to replace as needed to look the part.

Winter: Any office type wear - Black on black (OR black)

Summer: What a pain...but finally have it down, sort of.

Navy and red linen suits (identical) with short sleeves which seem to be indestructible.
(Got them in a Liz C outlet three years ago).

White linen slacks (buy at end of summer sales)
Black linen slacks (buy at end of summer sales)
Cotton or linen khaki colored (ditto)
Linen shirt jackets (buy on sale)
Red, blue, pink, white, or lime tops. (ditto)

And, like Sylvia, I believe in hosiery. I buy 'em by the dozen at JCP or L'eggs by mail.

Jewelry - Only one of each - replace as needed
Gold necklace/gold ball earrings
Silver beads/silver ball earrings
Faux pearls and pearl earrings

(Still always wear my wedding band in silver or gold. Right or wrong, I theorize that it gives the impression someone is at home who knows where I am at the time I am in a stranger's home.)

My sister and mom give me Foley's/Dillard's gift certs each year for occasions which I keep in the trunk of the car to use as needed to replace the above.

In one of my threads from last Friday night which is more than buried by now, I appeared at the Borrowers' house a little after 6:00 p.m. Mr. opens the door in a robe, which I quite honestly don't believe he was wearing *anything* underneath. Mrs. comes bopping into the room wearing a short, and I do mean short, nightie (sp?) with no robe -- all the while I'm sitting there in my biz suit, which I have more of in my closet than casual clothes because of the dress uniform code requied of me while working in law firms.

I allwys dress nice, suit or a dress depending on the weather. I have never had the problem with cleavage as I would need one of thouse push up bras to requier one of thouse lol. But have had the problem with having to dry clean my chloths after a signing, mostly friendly pets.
Allways smiling here Smiley Thanks for your refreshing post.

Re: YOUR DRESS CODE? Too Funny ....lol

I have the same problem as you Erna. A couple of years ago, after sitting for a couple of days beside a temp in one of my client's office, she abruptly suggests that I try a water bra and goes on to tell me how it would really boost my self-esteem. Before these two days, I had never seen this woman in my life. I may drown in water because I don't have flotation devices, but thank goodness I can sleep on my stomach.

Donna,

I went to a signing last summer, and sort of out of the blue (I thought) the husband asked me if I had just come off the golf course. Well, it wasn't like I was all hot and sweaty or anything, but i guess I was a little too casual as I did have a short-sleeved knit shirt on. And it wasn't like I was wearing shorts or levis; I had a pair of khakis on. But since then I have made a point of wearing oxford button down shirts.

Ted I should think a knitt top and khakis are are quiet exceptable when you are traweling to peoples homes. I had to clime over a makeshift fence ones made to keep the dogs and babies on the patio.......was so glad I was not wearing a dress that day .lol

Hello Erna

I just read CaliNotary's post where she was saying that "Trini is Korey".

Don't be suckered into that I am not Korey nor am I from Massachusetts. I live in a small town (actually desert!! Smiley ) called Applevalley located in California (as you should know).

Erna you humor me and I like the 'spunk' you bring here. Don't ever go back to Scandaniva!! Smiley

What part of California are you from Erna? Don't give exact spot, we wouldn't want Cali to go visit you! Smiley Or have Korey fly to your door and stalk you Smiley as the paranoid notaries like to think!!! LOL Well, the CaliNotary part could be true, but Korey is harmless and far far away!!

Seriously though, what part are you from?
