ACT is a contact management software - like Goldmine or Microsoft Small Business Manager. It tracks the emails you send out, and allows you to track phone calls and other forms of correspondence. It is often used in sales based companies to track contact with leads or customers.
Quicken on the other hand is an accounting based program focused on tracking your income and expenses. While you can maintain contact information in Quicken, it really isn't a contact management software.
You can read about the programs features and functionality on their websites:

Nothing against the program- except the cost-; others use it and it works out great for them.
For me though, it is easier to keep my own records- and it's "hand written". Done it "that-a-way" all my life- before all the new means were even thought about.
Guess I'm just plain "ancient" hey?

I'm with you, Happy. Although I don't keep my records handwritten, I use an Excel chart. It keeps track of everything I need including mileage, money I made minus notary fees (for the self-employment tax exemption), etc. It works for me and it was "free" (because I already had Excel on my computer). Hope this helps.

Re: Share your Excel Expertise?
Hi Debbie, Would you be willing to send me a blank copy of your spreadsheet? I have set one up for myself as a "Job Listing" where I put the company name, borrower last name, date assignment received, date completed, amount paid and when and comments. Yours sounds like something I should be doing, but am not.
Would you be willing to send it to me? If so, I am at [e-mail address].
Thank you, Mysti
