maxmail or maxemail?

One more question,if you all can stand it. I was told about maxmail for $6.25/month.
But all I can find on the internet is Maxemail for $8.95/month

I signed up with Maxemail "Lite" about 4 months ago. I had been thinking about it for a while, but finally decided to bite the bullet when I had two title companies within one week wanting to fax me loan doc's because they didn't have a scanner to scan them and e-mail. I pay $14.85 a year (not month)... and this includes 500 receiving faxes a month. They charge to send faxes, but I have a manual fax for that. There is also an initial $10 charge for a set up fee or something. Also, you don't choose your fax number... they pick it for you... and it has a Chicago area code... but that was no big deal to me. I have not regretted my decision for one second. The only hassle was letting all my companies know of my new fax number. With some of them, I was able to go into their website and change my fax number... with others, I just told them when they called for assignments. Either way, my old fax number still receives faxes if a company inadvertantly sends something.

How to keep you old fax number

In the event that I make more changes in the future, I don't want to change my fax number. Think of the hundreds of places you'd have to contact to give them yet a new number, and the hundreds of places who have acquired your fax number and may use it someday, but you don't know who they are.

I just signed up with Maxemail and they assigned me a Chicago number. I called SBC and ordered Call Forwarding on my fax line and forwarded to my Maxemail fax number. Now all of my clients can continue to use the fax number that I've been using for years. Here's the advantages:

1. I don't have to notify any of the Title Co/SS/lenders/EO's/LO's/etc. of any change in my fax number. This makes is easier for me, but more importantly, for them.

2. If my computer goes down, or the Maxemail site server goes down, I simply deactivate Call Forwarding and now I can get my faxes on my machine, because my clients will still be sending faxes to my regular fax number.

3. If Maxemail goes out of business, or if I change to another fax service, I don't have to once again call all my clients with yet a new number.

4. I won't be missing any more faxes that wind up on my fax machine at home while I'm on the road. If I get a call while I'm on the road, telling me that there's a new HUD in my fax machine, I can access it remotely (even at the borrower's home) and print it out.

Doing this is really very cheap. Call Forwarding costs me $3.23 per month. I pick up the long distance charges when the call is routed to Chicago, but I pay 3 1/2 cents per minute in increments of 6 seconds for long distance. A three page fax is going to cost me about 4 cents.

Plus, I don't have to print out everything. Printing costs on a fax machine is approximately 3 to 4 cents per page, so if I'm not printing out the unneeded pages, and the junk faxes, I'll reduce the supply costs.

Ultimately, I will incur an expense, but I don't care. It's more efficient and will allow me to provide a higher level of service to my clients, which means more signings and more income.

Re: How to keep you old fax number

My fax machine allows me to forward my fax number to my efax number and I print my faxes on my printer in the car.

Ninna, re: Maxemail. I just signed up with MaxeMail Lite on Friday. Can you answer a few "silly" questions since you have been using this for a few months. I just want a fax number so that companies can send me the few missing parts of the closing packages they might have forgotten. Having said that, can I be on the computer when the faxes are being sent? How will I know I have received the faxes? Any info will be appreciated.

The faxes are sent to you via email, so you can be on the computer doing anything else. You would have to check your email to see if they have been sent. I have my faxes go to my yahoo account. Yahoo will send your cell and instant message alerting you to the fax. It will say something to the effect: "Maxemail: 23 page fax sent from 412-555-1212" The alert also works great for edocs. I get 500 instant messages a month from Verizon for $7. The key is to only use the yahoo account for things you want to be alerted to - faxes & emailed docs, confirmations. Otherwise, you are getting jingled for every viagra or lower your interest rate spam out there.
