E-Fax

Can I respond or send to an e-fax if I'm not subscribing to e-fax or maxefax? I've seen threads about these types of "fax" but usually these refer to receiving, not sending. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone can send to efax. Sender doesn't even have to know it's an efax number.
If you have efax, you can convert a file to a fax. Can handle spreadsheets, word processor formats, and many others.

I don't have e-fax. Can I just use my regular fax machine to sent to their e-fax number?

I use CallWave. It's only $3.95 a month, I get an incoming fax number (although it is in another state) the faxes come straight to my computer in PDF format, also have my own 800 number and if I am on the phone I can still get messages. Anyone can fax to an Efax number providing they have a fax machine.

Yes, you can fax to an e-fax number from a regular fax machine. That is the beauty of e-fax or any others that are similar. The faxes received are converted to an email and then you receive it. I wouldn't recommend E-fax though. The service is great but it is kind of expensive now. The plan I have is $12.95 per month (use to be $9.95). I also use to be able to get unlimited incoming faxes. However, a couple of months ago they changed things and now I am only able to receive 120 pages per month for my monthly fee. Each additional page is then .10. All outgoing faxes are .10 per page as well. Their new incoming policy makes it a bit more difficult or expensive to receive faxed documents. :( The first month they switched (I don't recall a notice, but may have missed it), I paid over $60 for the service. So, now I am looking for another. Any suggestions??
