Ever suspect fraudulent ID cards?

Ever suspect fraudulent ID cards? If so, how did you handle it? I'm sure it could become an uncomfortable situation. Thanks for sharing :o)

I had a borrower who changed the expiration on his drs lic to 07. We were signing out in bright sun light and it was hard to tell the different ink. Until I looked at the issue date
1993 on that same line it has FD which is the final date of 97. His license should have expired in 1997. I just told him the license was expired, he didn't bat an eye, tried to give me another suspect ID. Military this time. I told him I would have to call. He knew I lived a couple of miles away, but not where. He then tells me to take them and copy them for the lender. O. K. fine. I went over to my neighbor, who is a lawyer, he says "run, don't walk".
Copied those and faxed them to the SS, this was a Saturday no one in the office. Then my husband drove back with me to return the ID. I told him they would have to get back with him. The borrower never tried to argue with me.

Excellent question! Personally, this hasn't happened to me so I can only hypothesis. I wouldn't confront the borrower because I wouldn't be able to prove it (his/her word against mine). However, I would say that I need to have two forms of identification to complete the transaction. If they couldn't produce another ID, then I would politely refuse to do the signing and notify the SS/Title. (Actually, if possible, I would first excuse myself on the pretense of getting something from my car and call the SS/Title with my concern).
