FLAMING MAD AT SIGNING SERVICE!!!!
I am writting this out of sheer frustration. A "signing service" calls me 1 hour and 45 minutes before an ELOC signing, they ask me to accept e-docs. I have never accepted e-docs because I don't have a laser printer. I told her I would be more than happy to come in to their office and pick up the loan docs, do the signing and return them.
I asked her what they would pay me, and she replied. "Well, it would have been $50.00 (even though I am certified, it should be at least $65), but we don't like to print e-docs because it costs us too much money, so we would have to deduct $25 from the signing fee to cover that cost. So you would get $25.00." I replied, "you want me to do a signing in less than an hour and a half, pick up and return docs to you for $25.00"??? And she replied..."yep".
I hung up! I have done this for over a year and have never heard anything like this before. Signing services are really taking advantage by paying so low and then pushing the signings at the last minute! ! I sure hope no one else is taking any signings for $25.00!

I, too, have been doing this for about a year now and I wouldn't have considered $25 even when I was new to this business. That wouldn't even cover expenses. I'm in a highly saturated area of SoCal and have never been offered that low a fee.

Don't get mad. Just politely tell them what your fee is. It IS your fee that counts--not what ridiculous amount they are offering.

Right, Lee!
Don't ASK them what they will pay you; TELL them what YOUR fee is. They take it or leave it, period. And yes, do get that laser printer!

I agree! I have been doing this for over five years and I wouldn't have accepted that either.

You need to get a laser printer. Will more than pay for itself.

I stopped doind the e-docs, because some of them were coming over 150-190 pages long, then get back to find a change.
It was just more of venting... sorry! But it really makes me mad when we are the most "convenient" service of the loan.
The scary part is with anyone accepting amounts like these, we all will pay for it in the end... no pun intended!
If anyone got the call in the Sacramento area... I would love to hear if you did it for 25bucks!

So if the SS is charging you $25 for edoc..hmm
Now I know these companies are crazy. So when a SS calls and asks you how much your edoc fee is, and you state $35, we should not ever hear a complaint. This company is very dubious in its practices at best.

Hi Nicole! No, she didn't even mention my cost. They always say it is too high. I don't think $75.00 signing and $35.00 e-doc is bad, but for them it is. The worst part is they will work their way down the list and someone will take it!
Your is Napa area right? My broker friend just moved there. Have you been busy signing? Sac area has been slow last 3 weeks! Seems like I was doing 2-4 a day.. then nothing!

With 50.00 I just break even. So anything above 50.00 should be my profit. But if you ever need to go back to the borrower for any reason or mistake you are burned!

So they wanted to pay you $50 and that INCLUDED printing edocs with no extra fee? Wow, they must really get bottom of the barrel notaries.
As for your being worth more because you're certified, that's simply not true, no matter what the NNA would like you to believe. I've been doing this for 2+ years, don't have any sort of certification, and not once has that been mentioned as a factor in my fees by anybody. You're worth whatever you decide you're worth, period.

A profound statement! Think about it. This is where confidence in yourself comes into play. Believe in yourself and your abilities. It's YOUR business, it's YOUR money, it's YOUR choice.
