Late Fees!?
My husband is a signing agent and he did a closing at the end of February and he still has not received payment! Every time he called that agency he was told that his request was sent to the accounting dept. but nothing ever happened!?!?
My question is: can he charge a late fee for this?! I think it is ridiculous that it has been so long and he still can't get his payment! That loan closed and got financed a long time ago....
What should he be doing?
Thank you, Alex.

Was that with Accusigning? I get the same thing everytime I send an email. If I remember, I will also call him tomorrow. They haven't paid the one I did in March, and I don't think they are going to.

I too have been calling them. I was told that payment has been sent out and I should receive it by the week end. If not, then I will add them to the Dead Beat List, and turn them over to the BBB, and NotaryBeware.

I'm having the same problem with All Around signings. I finally got paid for a January signing on April 22, now I'm having to hound him for a Feb. and 2 March signings. Every time I contact him I'm told he has to check with his accountant, but he never follows up with me. He's now avoiding my phone calls and supposedly is in a meeting or seminar or class or whatever everytime I call. Which has been probably about 100 times since Friday (nothing better to do while driving between appointments). He emails me to tell me these things instead of calling me back.
I did manage to fill up his voice mailbox today. I somehow kept forgetting to actually hang up after I left my message so most of the message was just my car radio. Oops. He finally got to the point where he just turned his phone off for good all afternoon. I have to wonder if he's even still in the signing business if he can keep his phone turned off, but he keeps insisting he'll check into things for me when he gets into "the office", and one of his supposed employees posted a nasty message about me on this board about a week ago. I'm sure it couldn't *possibly* have been him disguising himself.
So I'll try again tomorrow. Lots of driving time to kill then too. It's a cell phone, maybe I'll try him after business hours. If he can't answer the phone during office hours, maybe he'll be around at midnight.

Accusigning pays -- but generally 45-60 days.

Re: Late Fees!? Lessons Learned!
Actually, I did a signing for Accusigning on March 9th!!!!. Therefore, they are now on my Do Not Use list, as is United Notaries.

Alex,
As to the whole issue of late fees, as a general statement I don't think so. Unless it was negotiated (and agreed to) beforehand.
Let me also suggest that in the future you indicate what state you are from, as often times queries require state-specific responses.
As to what he should be doing ........ I will leave that to others.

**My question is: can he charge a late fee for this?! **
You can charge whatever you want -- however, it doesn't mean you will get it. Additionally, I don't believe *late fees* are legal in all states.
