My late signing tonight. -long

Got called by a title company about 10pm last night, could I do a signing for them at 11am today with edocs. Agreed and gave them my fee. No problem.
Didn't get a confirmation (no problem, often a title company doesn't send me a confirmation) I called them at 10am this morning to check into the whereabout of the docs. They hadn't got them from the lenders yet. How was my schedule, could I do it later. I said I could do it later in the day, I had signings scheduled for the afternoon, but could fit that one in for them.
About 6:30pm scheduler calls me and says he has got the docs, and he is scanning them in to send to me. Oh, and by the way, there is a Quit Claim deed that needs to be signed by the brother, and he is a 7th day Adventist, and will not sign anything after sunset, so can I make sure he signs first.
I say that there is no way I can print out all the docs and get over to the borrowers by sunset. He said to do my best, that the borrowers have been told that if the brother does not sign the QCD, the loan will be held up for a couple of weeks.

Print out docs and call borrowers. Mrs Borrower says she was looking for my number as we need to go to her brothers home for him to sign the QCD as he would not drive over to their home as it was after sunset.
OK - what is the address. They don't know the address, but if I meet them at the Texaco station I can follow them. So, Bruce (my husband is going with me to act as a witness on the QCD) drives me over to the Texaco.
Borrowers husband asks if we can get the brothers signature then drive somewhere else to have them sign the loan papers as they do not want the brother knowing their business on the loan. OK!
So get to brothers. Hand him the QCD and he asks if this is all there is, where are the rest of the papers. I ask him what he means, he is only to sign the QCD. He says what about the loan papers. I say, "sorry, sir, I cannot hand the loan papers to you, you are not on them, it is between Loretta and Frederick" Frederick then tells him it is nothing to do with him (the brother), that he and his wife are taking out the loan so they can pay him off and some other bills, and the loan papers are not his concern.

So, brothers wife then gets in on it, wants to know what kind of a scam I am pulling! Her husband is going to be signing the QCD and I have not got a check for him. I tell her that I do not have checks, that there is no money disbursed until the loan documents are signed and the right of rescission is over. She said she knows all about rights of rescission, she has bought and sold property for many years and there has always been a check for the "seller" and by signing the QCD her husband is "selling" his share of the property to his sister and her husband. I tell her this is a refinance with a RTC and not a purchase.
Then the brother reads the QCD and it states "for the sum of $10", he then says according to that paper he is only going to get $10 for his share. The borrowers husband tells him that he is going to get all his money and not just $10. They argued back and forth and finally the brother decides to sign the QCD. Bruce and I witness it, and I notarize it, and then put it in my brief case.
Brother then says what about the loan papers, aren't they going to be signed now. I said they were, but at another location.
Boy, he did not like that! He really wanted to read the loan papers and look at the settlement statement. No way was I going to hand them over to him, unless the borrowers wanted him to see them, and they didn't.

So, we left the brothers house, and I asked the borrowers where they would like to sign the loan papers, was I to follow them back to their home.

"No - we'll go to Bob Evans (restaurant) and we'll all have dinner and we are paying because you have been so patient and helpful."

So, we went to Bob Evans, they signed the loan docs, and we ate dinner.

They figured that on Sunday, they would be hearing from the brother and it wasn't going to be pleasant.

Apparently the brother had called the company and asked for the details on the loan, he wanted the docs e-mailed to him. He gave an e-mail address to e-mail them to.
LO calls the borrower, she tells him that that is not her e-mail address, it is her sister in law's and they cannot send the documents to her. I just cannot believe the gall of some people.

I had one that I was doing for this lady and her 3 daugters were there and it was a mess. I could not believe they would treat their mother like they did. Seems the dollar tends to bring out the best in people.

LOL Monica
The ASN did write an article on one of the prison weddings I did - but they haven't published it in their newsletter yet.
