New Notaries - Just a reminder...
You are responsible for learning the rules in your notary handbook (IF it exists--a couple of states have very little info, I realize).
The notary educational materials are pretty thorough in Florida and California. Texas Rules are clear enough, as well...so are many other states.
If there is a handbook for your state, there is no excuse not to:
Know where your handbook is so you can use it for reference--just keep it handy so you can refer to it.
Know what kind of acts and certificates you can do--or how to find out in your handbook.
Know where to find your statutory forms...
Know the basic wording that goes on your certificates so you'll recognize it when it is wrong in a package...
Know how to properly write the venue on your certificate. =======
People who ask questions that would be answered if they knew the above don't seem to stick with the job very long...and that makes sense...if a notary can't make it a priority to keep the educational materials handy to refer back to, this job will be tedious, dry and boring...as it's all about page after page of endless, endless words.
On the other hand, if you care about how to do the notary part enough to read your rules, you'll have a lot of fun...but you have to love to learn.
