Resident Alien Card (Green Card)
Acceptable ID includes driver's license, passport, military ID, or resident alien card issued by the US Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.
I have never seen a Resident Alien card. Although I searched for the term on the Internet, I could not find a site that provides a picture of one.
Could someone either:
1. suggest a web site that contains a picture of one, or 2. describe the card in detail?
Thank you very much.

It's an ID card issued by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). These cards are not "Green" (they used to be) -- I believe they are Pink now.

There have been several threads re: green cards as acceptable ID. I don't believe it is listed as acceptable ID and does not contain the elements required - physical description, photo etc.

Art, It depends on the state. Florida allows us to accept the "Green cards". I don;t think California does. But Jerry is in NJ and they may allow the "Green cards"

I.D. Checking guide
This is a useful reference and is published by the Drivers License Guide Company of Redwood City, CA. Try www.idcheckingguide.com I received mine when I joined the American Society of Notaries so I don't know the cost. The guide contains pictures and descriptions of all the States current and prior Driver's Licenses as well as other valid forms of ID.

I meant to say green cards are acceptable only for identification in preparing immigration documents. Green cards are NOT acceptable as identification for notarizing any documents.

When I took the loan signing class, the instructor had us cross out "Alien Cards" as acceptable ID's for notarizing INS docs. I searched the 2004 and 2005 CA NP handbooks I cannot find anything in them stating that alien cards are still acceptable ID's for notarizing INS docs.

Oh my, I have not seen anything stating that was to be changed. Did the instructor tell you that the law had been changed in regards to that. If it has sure which they would state it some were. Hve not seen it posted on the SOS site.
