Do a search on EIN. Yould find lots of info on getting an "employer identification number" which will remove necessity of revealing SS number.

You wil find that anonymous posts get fewer replies than those posted with a name.

When you fill in the Author field, please include the two-letter abbreviation for your state. It will help people help you by giving state-specific answers.

Good luck.

Re: Signing Companies FYI

Our Company does not require SSN at the registration time.
Any closing agent/notary can register for free, the only thing we ask is a W-9 form and an invoice at the time a closing is completed.

Thank you,

I ran into the same issue when I started applying online, with not only ss numbers but driver's licenses too. I got an EIN online very easily and quickly, which I will release and I'll send my D.L. with my number crossed out.
If you check out the signing service tab at the top of this page, you can see how the companies are rated and that will give you an idea of whom to sign up with....
good luck Smiley

Mostly every company I signed up with ask for that information. I do this part time do you think I need to still get the EIN? I average 12 to 20 signings a month. I usualy do 1 an evening and occasionally I do 2 or more. I am kept busy I have been keeping log on how many I have to turn down because they are during the day and I was half. I am not ready to do this full time.

I would...or what's another option? sending copy via e-mail or fax? It just makes me feel safer that the SS/TCs have an EIN for me, for my own identity is subjected theft by a disgruntled employee.
Ya just never know, it's better to be safe than sorry Smiley
