Signing Nightmare

I was called to do a signing yesterday 9:00AM for Coast to Coast. E-docs. Instructions to be faxed and docs sent by email. Next thing I know is there 23,24,25 pages being faxed to me. I quickly called lender to send the 120pg doc to my email. He did, but they were the wrong docs, these were the ones from 2 days before (in which the lender had put the incorrect % rate on) Again I got and email and reprinted the 120pg docs, this time the instructions said I needed to print both lender and borrowers copies and contact borrowers to set an appt. they were waiting for me. My 120 pg doc was now 360pgs. The name and number of the contact person had no idea who or what I was calling for. Again I called lender, I get an Email from him saying I printed the wrong docs. What! He sent the attachment to me I didn't have a choice of what to print. Of course it's a Friday and its getting late in the day on a holiday weekend. Anyway the docs were correct the contact was not. Lender didn't email me back to let me know till 1 hour before appt. I made it(barely) Of coarse the husband (that was expecting me) was an hour late stuck in traffic. I'm quite frustated by this time. Finally get almost done with the appt. And husband noticed the broker fee had gone up .5% on these docs. I got out the ones I printed first and yep he did. Of course the signing was over and borrowers rufused to sign. Now its 6:30PM on friday and I can't even get a hold of the lender. Coast to Coast was the company that hired me and Denise was wonderful she said I would be paid extra for all the trouble, we will see. What happens if the lender doesn't pay, does Coast to Coast still. I'm a new notary, and after today I had sencond thoughts about ever excepting another signing. Please tell me things don't always have such problems.

You didn't pull the old docs out at the table with the borrower, did you? Not our job to help the borrower know the broker is screwing them - whether we want to or not. For all we know, it could have been .5 less on the first docs in error.

yes I did, I won't again. Hopefully won't ever have 2 different sets sent at one time again. The borrower did have a paper with the discussed rates and figures that they had determend.

Sometimes we go thru hell with some borrowers and titles co's I dont mind when you get paid good money.
But what about when you do a 65.00 dollars for a SS and there is problems that LO created and they promise on 30 year fixed and they end up with an ARM, prepayment and they didnt want a prepayment., its no the correct payoff amount, and the singing turns out of more than 3 hours, and you have to fax back like 20 pages
and if you borrower is a nightmare they give hard time, like one borrower asked me how long did I study to do
what I was doing. I told him that in just one day you can be a notary, and that in CA everyother person is a
notary. And he wanted to become one, it will take him like 5 years in order to make the amount he was already
making.

It is scary to see those loans folks are getting, they are cashing out and getting a horrible rate and high fees. Ones the market levels out we will start seeing a lot of repos.

Hi Carrie,

Don't get too discouraged. We've all had signings like these, but they honestly don't come up all too often. Just think of the $100 HELOC next door to your house and the freshly brewed sun tea with mint leaves (OK, maybe just a little too much like heaven... nix the mint leaves) but you get my drift.

The more seasoned vets on this board can probably attest to horrible situations, gross signers and even more disgusting and uncomfortable signing situations. I myself showed up and had to deal with a drunk (kind of) woman (i think) with more cats than she had toes (in a nutshell). And I remember a recent post where someone's signer was a nudist! That was a good post...

Anyway, I really do hope you get paid well for this job.

Cheers!
