Some people just do not take this seriously

I am so frustrated right now, I had 3 signings today and the first one was fine. The second was about 40 min. from my home and my directions were wrong (Gotta love Mapquest!) I called the borrower for directions and I just reconfirmed that she and her husband would be there to sign. She said she was home but he was working and I would need to go with her to his work. NO, afraid not I told her and go off the phone to call the SS, she told me to go to the house anyway and make her call him to come home. I also told the SS that the area I was going to has the worst crime rate in my County and I didn't feel comfortable going to his work. I got to the house and told her to call him, of course there wasn't a phone at his job (sure) and he was expecting us. I did follow her because I found out the address was at least on the way back home and not further out, although still in a really nasty neighborhood. I think I will eliminate that City from my list, I've only down 3 there and 2 of the 3 I had to go to the job of one of the borrowers once I got to the house.

I go to my next one and the girlfriend answered the door and told me that the borrower just called and would not be home for another hour or so! What!! This was an appointment for loan, what do they not understand?? I told her I would call in an hour to confirm he was home before I would come back. She said he has to sign, can I sign for him? Sure maybe on Mars!!

Sorry but I am so angry and the EOM closings are always so haphazard. (sp?) Should I charge the SS a return trip fee for the last one and add to the other for going to both home and work?

Re: your last questions... Who scheduled the appointments with the borrowers and did you confirm them? Also, how good a client is this SS to you and how much do you want to keep them? If it was all their fault, I'd likely be inclined to charge them for a second trip on the last one and some kind of additional trip fee for the first one, taking into consideration any extra distance and risk in that area.

I know what you mean about some people just not getting it though. It's not like we're the one who is trying to get a loan! JMHO

I confirmed both signings with the borrowers. The first with the wife but told her both she and hubby needed to be present, hubby just couldn't find someone to cover his shift. The second the guy just got hung up at work. Both signing were with new SS companies ( I have never done work for either in the past) so I do think I will chaulk this up to it being EOM and let it slide, besides I would like to add these two companies to my regular client list.

When I went back to the second one for the second time, I was there an hour before anything was signed because the borrower was upset with the loan program and closing costs. He tried to reach his LO and left a message and after an hour of not hearing from him he decided to not proceed with the signing, just as I was leaving the LO called and convinced him to proceed since he could cancel. I had explained the RTC to him too but he didn't listen to me. So after sitting there for an hour he changed is mind again and proceeded. I know this guy will cancel though, I just hope this SS pays SA's even if the loan is rescinded.
