Waz up with background check fee to SA?
I understand that due to the sensitive nature of information, a background check is probably in order. However, reputable institutions that find it necessary to do so typically eat the cost themselves and not ask the hiree to pay for this expense. Afterall, they are the ones hiring that individual. So, why should the employee or vendor have to pay this cost? I think this is another attempt to get money from the unsuspecting, "wanna work" SA--SCAM!
If these companies want notaries or SAs, this is a cost that they should pay not the independent contractor looking to be hired. Although, the bait is that if you provide the fee and signed permission to have the background check done, you will be a preferred notary/sa. There is still no guarantee that one will get priority over someone who has opted to skip the background check.
Just one SAs opinion

I refuse to pay for a background check. Now, LSI (PA) wanted a background check and they were paying for it, so I agreed to it. It was one of their lenders (USAA) that was requiring it, reason given that we were going to military members homes sometimes. If we didn't agree to the background check they couldn't use us for USAA loans. I got a lot of the USAA loans from LSI, so I agreed.

SPS-SM, you are a fairly new poster here, and are apparently unaware of the expectations placed on the participants. A minimal level of literacy is among those expectations. The correct spelling is not "waz up;" it is "whassup"?
Get it right, okay?

Missed you Mr. Hughness. I'm a CA girl and thought "Whassup" was something you cowboys said to your horses.

"Whassup?" is an interrogative that is correctly employed under the following circumstances:
1. When contemplating the contents of ones stomach, recently relieved of its stuffings after a night of far too many tequila shooters.
2. By a hopeful woman to her boyfriend, who is experimenting with a new Viagra prescription.
3. By George Bush, worried about the stock market, to Allen Greenspan.
4. By Allen Greenspan, contemplating the contents of his stomach after one too many brushes with Republican economics.
