In general, when doing loans, we use the stamp. This is because the documents will be copied and the embrosser will not always show up. Also, with the lack of space on many docs, there is no way to get the embrosser to the open area. Also, the open area may be on the wrong side and you would have an upside down embrossment. Most states give you the option of embrosser or stamp. When doing non-loan notarizations, some people feel more comfortable to see the embrossed seal. If you are doing international documents, you might want to use the gold sticky and embross that or just the embrosser.
There are ways to darken the embrosser to make it show up. You can problably find something under notary supplies on this site.
