2006 NNA Conference in DC

Has anyone ever gone to an NNA conference? If so, how was it? Is anyone going to the 2006 conference in DC? Just curious and was wondering if it's worth spending the money.

TIA

Yes
Not worth it
No
Only if it's in Vegas and I can write off the expense

We attended last years convention and it was very disappointing. I will never waste my time and money again with that. Even with DC being so close to us, its just not worth it. We had more fun at PA funeral directors convention....now those guys know how to put together a convention Smiley

They had 2 signings companies there, one was Vital Signings and was already signed up with them and the other company charged $39.95 to be in their database. Did not signup with them, they also are closed down and not in operation anymore. I went for the Enjoa training for E Notarization which was only a display of the equipment. The main reason I went was to hear about the E Notarization that they kept saying was going to happen anytime. Nothing ever came about anything that was talked about.

went 2004

was a waste of money

glad I could write it off

glad it was in Vegas though

would NEVER go back again or spend the money UNLESS they guarantee 35+ vendors (companies you can work with, not ones selling me stuff)
doubt that will happen anytime soon since they had less than 9 there and it was their 27th annual....can't get even 1 a year, I'd be dead before they get to 35 at their current rate.

I'll be there!

The programs themselves are geared to the lowest common denominator and generally not worth it. However, the networking opportunities are very good and you can learn a lot more from hobnobbing at the bar and swapping stories/ideas with fellow SAs that you can in an NNA class, (kind of like on this board). I will attend Bob/Chicago's speaking session, and then have a few sodas with him and the rest of the folks I met last year. DC is also cool, and the conference is like 2 days shorter this year, so should be cheaper. It's a tax-deductible couple days away from the routine, and fun to meet the other notaries.

Won't go again. If there is a beach and my nationwide wireless access works, I'll go. I'll write it off and enjoy the breeze while a cute beach boy serves me drinks! Smiley

I agree with Becca on this one.

I stayed at the hotel that the convention was in and I could not check my email the whole time I was there. I brought my laptop that has 802.11 wireless. The hotel did not has wireless internet access in the rooms, only in the business station down in the lobby and you had to use your credit card and pay by the minute. When I asked the desk about Wi-FI, they looked at me like I was from another planet. The nearest Starbucks for Hot Spot was too far away. After I got back I got 24/7 wireless internet from T-mobile so I would not have that problem again when I travel. This was Philidelphia, a big city and no Wi-Fi, I am spoiled where I live, its everywhere.
