A Tip for the "Newbies"

For those of you just getting started, it would be wise of you to learn your state laws pertaining to notaries. I see alot of posts on here with legal questions. I believe each state has a website with our laws. I know my state also issues a "primer" for notaries, and it has been a big help.

My own feeling is that some states have poorly written notary handbooks. A lot is left to the notary to interprete. For example, some state don't really explain how a person signs with a POA. Questions regarding these "unclear" areas that are part and parcel to this board.

Wow. .that's pretty sad that a state will commission people and not give them good information.
