How to open a .GMD file?

Title company sent me a file named: borrowerslastname.gmd. Any clue how to open it? Perhaps it is a link to some corporate download site. Though I would get documents download and printed tonight if anyone can help. Otherwise, I will take it up with them in the morning.

Thanks in advance.

If you are still awake, I just upload the view & print utility to my website for you to down load.

Guardian Mortgage Docs. Go to "downloads" and you will need to register, the first time, then download the program.

gmd docs will OFTEN not format properly when they are sent in a forwarded e-mail.

Re: www.gmd.com

I've never had a problem with GMD documents even when they are forwarded. The problem arises sometimes when a company takes the file and repackages it then sends it on as a new attachment.

BTW - the view and print utilities are available for direct download from my site as well. (http://www.pawnotary.com/download)

Re: www.gmd.com

Paul, you can probably shed light on this, I'm way out of my league in understanding this. When I was on the 'inside', we used GMD. SO many times the pkgs a T/C would forward as an attachment wouldn't print, or wouldn't format correctly - I'd get at least 10 calls a day from some frantic mobile closer. I'd send direct to them - problem solved. What I was told by the 'inside' techie is that docs are "encrypted" in a way that specifically intends to prevent them from being forwarded, as a security measure. Make any sense to you? My brain shuts down about 4 levels below THAT kind of info - I just wanted a 'fix', and sending direct always worked. Well, always worked IF the person had HP minimum 4000 series, (due to formatting being done by printer)

Re: www.gmd.com

Any transmitted file can be encrypted. It really depends on who is sending the file how the encryption protection is installed and utilized. So, when you were on the 'inside' and were sending the file to a TC who then would forward it instead of repackaging. By sending direct, the link between the intended receiver (NSA) and the sender (lender) would be maintained and the file would be fine.

As I said, I don't remember ever having any problems with forwarded GMD files. Usually, the email has a link to download them from a website, using a specified email address/password provided by the title company since the lender sent them to the title company in the first place.

Also, it must be noted the Guardian is tightly integrated with Internet Explorer and IE must always be used with their services.

Went to Guardian's website. Downloaded directly from there. Successfully viewed and printed documents.

Thanks to all.
