Invoice Collection
I have read many threads about how to collect money that is owed you. One was to contact the BBB to assist you. They can not help because the complaint is a private collection of a debt. Some say to contact the Attorney General of the state to complain and the reply is the same as the first (collection of a debt). I cannot take the company to small claims because they are out of state. I could if I would travel to the state the company is in, approx 1500 miles. The invoice is for only $75.00 but the fact that I have to jump through hoops just to get the money is ridiculous. The company (Nations Signature Closers) claims that the check was sent and cleared in June. I have made numerous contact with this company and have gotten the run-around. I am running out of options. I have currently contacted the County D/A for possible fraud investigation and havent received a response back yet. Im at the point of taking a loss for taxes. Had to vent!!!!

Hi Jay,
I can appreciate your frustration. Had one similar myself once and then found out after months, and many letters and phone calls. that the company had gone out of business so I never did get paid. The lender said it wasn't their responsibility since the SS had hired me, not them.
Since the company you're dealing with said the check had cleared, did you ever ask if they could give you a copy of the front and back of the check that was cashed? They probably won't since you said they're giving you the run around, but I guess it's worth asking.

Are you talking about Nations Signature Closers in Kansas? If so, I've done a few for them and have never had a problem getting paid. The shortest time to pay was 10 days after the signing and the longest was 36 days. I'm sorry you're having such a bad experience with them. Just a thought - maybe they can get a copy of the check to see how it was endorsed? Perhaps you already asked for that though. Anyway, Good luck!!

Thank you for the response and yes I have asked several time for a copy of the check. They say they will send it but it never arrives. I know they have my current address because of the certified mail I have sent. Again thanks.

They have had a lot of personnel changes and things have been a bit sticky. I also had a problem and insisted to speak to a supervisor/manager (didn't keep name, Jim something). It took a while but I kept after them and it was resolved.

one of the things that frequently happens is that they put the check in an envelope addressed to someone else. The other parties are not always honest and they will cash the check, ask Nations Signatures to send you a copy of the endorsement on the back of the check. if it is b=not your signature then they owe you another check.

I agree with Patricia. You may also want to advise them that you are hiring an attorney and see if an attorney can help you with this. I know it works for us...we give them the option of paying lots of court fees plus what is owed or pay the over night andsend the funds. You be serprise how fast they will send your check.
I have one company I am determine to go after even it means filing the claim on the internet or doing everything by mail. The thing is they owe the money and they need to pay.
good luck in pusueing this...it will be worth it and it is a sign of zellionous (sp?) and persistence!!! it wil make a good collector out of you! <wink>

Thank you, also, for sharing your frustration with us. While taking into consideration that there can be two sides to every coin - whenever I read numerous and repeated complaints of non-payment from any entity, I refuse any work from them in the event they call, and I TELL them why. I tell them very politely that I am unable to accomodate them unless and until they are able to make reparations with my fellow NSA's.
In one instance when I was having some payment issues with someone, I let them know that unless we were able to resolve it, I would be sharing my frustrations on the boards.
I was over-nighted a check for the full amount. Enough said (or unsaid!).
