Is it really not picking up?

Hubby and I just returned from vacation. A totally blissful week of nothing but R&R. I get home only to see the phones haven't really been ringing. I was hoping things would be picking up. What's everyone else's experience so far this month?

Last week was OK with the overflow from October. This week is slow. But then, it is the 2nd week of month which is usually the weakest week.
Sure hope it picks up ...

October was real slow for me but November is turning out to be quite busy, so far.

Last week was really busy for me all the way up to Saturday. This week so far, I've had about 4 calls, although I had to turn down 2 as they were too far for me to travel and 1 call was missed by me. When I called back, they had already filled it. :(

SO, right now, I have one scheduled for today. But's it's still early in the week. I'm sure the calls will start rolling in.

I just returned from lunch with a friend who works for a TC. She said it's really slow for them as well. Not exactly the news I wanted to hear.

My month so far: 10 calls, 3 completed, 2 scheduled, 1 canceled, 4 not accepted (low, slow pay). Had to buy a new cell phone charger yesterday, this job has many incidental expenses! I don't know how any SA's can "afford" to work for $40.00.

Most that take those $40 assignments are just looking for some extra cash and have no clue how to actually run a business.

sept dead here/oct very busy/nov busy so far

in sept i raised my certified rate to $75 from $65, edocs $25, $15 more for piggyback, $15 for faxback, as i have to come back to the office to fax instead of just drop them, and $15 for over 35 miles one way. got not many jobs, maybe 8 all month, no one declined because of fees. october was great for me in the middle of the boondocks here in wisconsin, 32 signings, $2925 outstanding invoices, they have just begun rolling in. i use a brother mfc 8220 with dual trays that i got on ebay for 179 and 135 for the tray, and those papers just fly out of there. Of course i anticipate collections by the end of oct., but i have never not been paid, even by sirianni. they must get sick of hearing from me. i am always pleasant, but i call every friday after 30 days. we must stick to our deserved and hard earned fees to keep this profession held in the high regard it is. if we all stick together, it will happen!

You still do signings for Sirianni? I heard he was out of business!

Declined 2 this week, a certain company that will pay $50 for up to 50 miles.....no thanks.
1 Signing, thank goodness this is part-time for me or I would really be in trouble financially.
Seems like the last few weeks I have been callled upon a lot by the $50 companies which really would not be to bad if they were under 15 miles.

October was a very good month for me and the first part of November has been even better. In fact I have had to turn down several assignments due to scheduling conflicts this week.

Eugene, that's great to hear. What part of these United States do you work in?
