Need help from MD notaries re: new law?

I just got a call from a SA, very experienced and knowledgeable. Ask a question to which I had no answer.

She was informed by a Title Company, that according to a new law, which the person at the TC couldn't quote, the SA must sign the HUD as the settlement agent. The wording was changed to eliminate the old wording (which in effect said I prepared the HUD and will cause funds to be distrubted according to the HUD) and just a signature line for the SA to sign. Anyone else hear of this or know anything about it?

Thanks,

Art

Haven't heard of anything like that. I WOULD NOT sign as a Settlement agent. Period!!

That's my first thought. I'm waiting to find a copy of the new law (if it does exist) and see what it says.

Art...

I haven't heard anything from my Maryland based clients at all. I'd ask for proof.
