OT...Got a good cold remedy?

I'm sitting home today, miserable. I wish there was a magic pill. Anyone have a good remedy for the common cold? One of my brothers had a good idea but I don't feel well enough to go to the liquor store!

I just got over one myself. Airborne! It shortened the duration and made the symptoms a little more bearable. Other than that, a shot of Nyquil and lots of rest! Hope you feel better soon!

I've been vegging out all day. I don't think I've ever watched so much t.v. Can you believe Dr. Phil and Oprah?

That was me last Tuesday. I'm on the west coast so Dr. Phil and Oprah aren't on for a few more hours! I was still coughing and blowing my nose when we went to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. My father-in-law dubbed me "Thypoid Mary." How affectionate!

Beth,
I swear by Theraflu Severe Cold. I can't stand to drink it in cold water through, so I heat the water first.

Hope you get to feeling better fast.

Re: OT...trose

wow, at family gatherings, I just get pestered about my personal life. I spent 3 days last week answering the "when are you and hubby going to have children" question. Being the youngest of five and the only one without kids...well you know.

My husband and I get that, too. I'm the oldest of three. We are both in our early 30's. We are trying....not hasn't happened yet.

Re: OT...trose

I got into a conversation with my daughter-in-law's sister, I had mentioned that I had never asked when they were going to have children. She told me that any unasked question is stupid. I informed her that you never know what the answer maybe, it could be something that would hurt someone. AS it turned out, my daughter-in-law had trouble getting pregnant, took 7 years, finally had to have shots. They saved the annoucement for my birthday and handed me a present with a note in it. I started crying and couldn't read it out loud, so I handed it to my daughter, so everyone at the party could share in the good news. That was the best present I ever had. They now have a 20 month old boy and a 6 week old little boy. My son is the best father of any man I have ever met.

Congratulations B! That brought tears to my eyes! My husband and I have only been trying for a few months. It's still frustrating every month. But you are right about never knowing if it's a hurtful question or not. It's a very personal question and sometimes people forget that. What a sensitive mother-in-law. I've been very lucky to have a great one also!

I started getting a sore throat when I returned to TX from VT and I took some Airborne. I've been fine since. That stuff works miracles!!!

Doesn't taste that bad either. I mix it up in flavored water. I had it this past Sept. when I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. I started getting sick so I tired it for the first time ever and it worked. I hope they don't have to take it off the market some time because it causes something bad to happen. It's hard to find something that works so well!!!

Those new vicks plug ins work good to to help clear up the nose and chest. The whiskey tea lemon and honey work well too.

The only thing "bad" about it so far is that pregnant women cannot take it. I was a Pharmacy Technician for a while and that was the big worry that all the pharmacists had about it. I couldn't tell you exactly what it was though. Something to do with how high the doses of vitamins were in it.
