Poor Attitudes - VENT
I have been checking out these posts almost daily for a few months now. I may not be the best and smartest signing agent out there, but I am not a "newbie" either.
One thing that I do notice is the badgering of newbies with general questions. I agree that anyone who wishes to find an answer should perform a search FIRST. If that person doesn't find the answer they are looking for, then post the question.
While the answer to some questions may seems obvious to everyone else, THIS DOES NOT GIVE ANYONE THE RIGHT to badger, insult or put down the person who posted the question.
This is a forum for every notary... not just those with lots of experience.
SO PLEASE, if you have a question, do a search first. IF you can't find the answer your looking for, then post a new message.
FOR EVERYONE ELSE... if you have a geniune comment/answer to help out another notary, then post a reply. If you don't have a meaningful responce, then take out your aggression somewhere else.
THANK YOU... ---end of vent.

You're probably the anonymous poster with the bad attitude. Just looking for more attention.

Actually, we do have the right to badger, insult, or put down whoever we want. Just as you have the right to try to tell the rest of us how we should or should not post.
It's simple, you just take from this board what is useful to you and ignore the rest. Just as I'm going to ignore your telling me how I should post, anyone who feels badgered by me is free to ignore whatever I posted.
Ain't freedom great?

If you ask a question, just add your service to our country and you will find you skate out of any insults, or put downs Sad that you have respect as a human on this board only if you serviced in the military

No Anon...you're only partly correct. You are correct to use the search function. However, before posting a question, you could check your SoS's website, your handbook and any notes you may have taken when taking a notary course. If there is no luck, then post the message. I'm sure most experienced NSA's here (ie CaliNotary, TitleGal, BrendaTX et al) will agree.

I've never served in the military and I have never been treated with anything but respect from the posters of this board.

Re: Poor Attitudes - VENT Anon and Msg. 77735
So anon, you're referring to thread 77735, where a new board member introduced himself (with his name) and as a newbie...and you're jealous that he received a warm reception from other posters? And you think it's because of his military status that he was greeted?
Could it be that he was welcomed because he was honest and up front about introducing himself instead of the sneaky, sly way you anons come in and attack people under the umbrella of anonymous?
***Sad that you have respect as a human on this board only if you serviced in the military***
How an intelligent person could come to that conclusion is beyond me.

Re: Poor Attitudes - VENT Anon and Msg. 77735
A warm reception is appropriate for an honest warm introduction. I for one always do and will continue to thank those who have served our country and no stupid remark will ever make me rethink that. And to that I shall extend another hearty "thank you to all those here and abroad who have and are serving our nation affording me and my family our freedom". So stick that in your pipe and smoke it "Mr. Anonymous only here to to stir the pot".

I would feel you respected me/others if you'd drop your anon handle and set something up to distinguish yourself from other anons...but that's just me.
It bears a moment of consideration that because of the service men/women many of us older ones find worthy of much respect--maybe more than others...I'll give you that-- you have quite a bit of freedom to decide what you want to do about that anon handle.
If I were Queen of the World...anon handles would not be here...but, fortunately for all the anons, I am not Q of the W, and there are good men and women in the military who are willing to keep me off the throne.
Interesting, isn't it?

Re: Poor Attitudes - VENT - Ray
Well Ray, look at it this way, you've made "an entrance"! It is funny the way threads can go off in a direction the original poster intended.
I'll take the opportunity to say "welcome" also. Good luck to you and don't let the butterflys get to you before your appointment. If you're feeling a lack of confidence beforehand, just 'fake it til you make it' and the confidence will come.

I have respect for all that deserve it. And yes I will admit and proud of it that I have the utmost respect for the soldiers serving in the military. I believe they deserve it more than anyone else on earth. After all, they are the ones with their lives on the line for us. The people that don't deserve or get my respect are the ones that have no self respect, thus have no respect for others.
I have learned a great deal from this board and appreciate it all!!! I hope that I too will be able to help from time to time. I am thick skinned and can take what you throw at me, but when it comes to someone slamming our military....that really makes me ^%&%&&*&!!!!!

The ONLY reason you can post as anon and whine as you do is because of those who have come before us and are currently serving to protect our freedom. They've made THE ultimate sacrifice. You should be thanking everyone service man and woman you see (as well as Police and Fire Fighters) as I have taught my children. There is a common thread between you anon posters and the people these soldiers protect us from...you are all cowards IMHO.
Thank you to all that are currently serving or have service this country. You and your families are in our thoughts and prayers.

Well ....... yes ....... and it's SO interesting how some of the more holierthanthou unhumored among us use that "fact" so as to be hellbent on being critical every time they have the opportunity ...... isn't it?

I guess it would depend on your definition of "critical". You've been on this board long enough to see that some people have much thinner skins than others. I don't think it does anybody any good to cater to the lowest common denominator and tiptoe around anything that could be interpreted as critical.

So much for doing the RIGHT thing, I guess to some it will ALWAYS be do what ever suits your conscience, if there is any present.
I suppose you were never a new forum user, eh?
I guess the golden rule and "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" are just too old fashioned for some to even consider any more, too.
My reaction?
Well, if your case .........
WHATEVER!

You really are too much.
Here's a clue for you. Putting a smiley face at the end of a judgemental post doesn't magically make it non-judgemental. By making this post (and your many others like it) all you're doing is proving me right; Sometimes it's ok to say something not nice instead of not saying anything at all.
Of course I don't expect you to see this, as you've made your cluelessness and hypocricy and lack of self awareness all too evident. But sweetie, you're doing the exact same thing as me - calling em as you see them, even if it's not very nice.

Believe it or not, that's my attitude too. If I were completely out of my league, as some of the posters on this board are, I'd much rather somebody tell me that straight up instead of just blowing happy smoke up my butt and telling me how I'll be just fine and to remember to breathe.
Better to have to read the harsh stuff on this board than it is to have to listen to an irate loan officer screaming it in your ear because of your incompetence.

I don't understand why SSEmobile finds it necessary to do exactly what he/she is complaining about. Matter of fact, you seem to do this every time Cali posts.
|
Reply by CaliNotary on 11/22/05 1:37pm Msg #78223
Yeah, that happens a lot on this board. I'm not allowed to be critical of other posts, but it's perfectly fine for her to criticize my posts for being critical. Or messages that say "wow, I can't believe how rude you are, you must be trailer trash!" and the like.
The lack of self awareness by some people can be amazing. If you're going to do EXACTLY what you're telling the rest of us not to do, at least have the common sense not to do it in the same post!

Poor Attitudes - VENT
At Boot camp a solder gets beat up mentally. Becoming retrained in daily life suitable for battle. Doing so prepares them for war, which, after all, is the whole purpose behind training them in the first place.
Becoming a S/A and becoming a solder are a bit different. I never had to be yelled at to become a s/a that knows the job. Everyone of us has the right to speak their mind, and treat others however they want to treat others. It is a choice one makes to take on the responsibility to train in the same vane as bootcamp Sergeant.
I do not personally think its called for, becoming a S/A is a good job, an important job, but not crucial to world peace. (others may disagree)
Cali to say "believe it or not, that's my attitude too" even you realize that you do come off harsh, but that would mean you like that form of communication in your life. So those who read your posts know this is your style, and often entertains them at the same time.
