Thanksgiving Day signing

Got a call from a TC to do a signing on Thanksgiving Day - when all 4 people who have to sign are together.
Would you charge extra?
How much extra?
I told the TC $50 extra.

Hmmmm....

For the past 5 years I have always been the person to work the holiday...I do that because those with family should have the time off. I have no family, just a cat that allows me to live in the house. You are correct that holidays should be kept special with the family tradition, there are unfortunately those of us with no one to spend time with....IF we work so that others can be home with their loved ones, so be it. It's not greed, consider it a gift.

Re: Hmmmm....

I wasnt at all trying to be rude by saying that...I was talking more about me personally. I do appreciate those that are willing to go out and work on holidays but I also think that this world has gotten so crazy. There used to be a time when Sunday was a day of relaxation as were the holidays...I just think that it is sad that nothing is sacred anymore. BTW, if you lived in FL, you would be more than welcome to join me for Thanksgiving.

TY Sherry, IF I lived in Fla. I'd take ya up on your offer..

I also agree with you about traditions etc., far too many of them are being lost. My son and his family are 2,000 miles away and I continue to remind him of the traditions he grew up with and to not let go of them. I dunno what the problem is, cost of "survival" is alot greater than it was 30 years ago. Not much loyalty left, greed has a funny way of turning us into something we're NOT. I'm old...........er, refuse to let the greed bug bite me. I have always been blessed with what I need, so many can't turn loose of what they WANT. BIG DIFFERENCE. Anyway, to everyone with loved ones surrounding them this holiday season...have a glorious holiday!

I am by myself on Thanksgiving.....just me and the cat. I hope I get a call for a signing. If you can stay busy it definately helps with the lonliness factor over the holidays. Hope everyone has a pleasant and safe holiday!!!!!

There are only two holiday's that I absolutely will not do signings on and those are Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Any other observed holiday I feel it is worth 1/2 my fee.

I will not work on Thanksgiving. It's just not worth the few extra dollars to me. My family is spread out all over the country. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the 2 times each year we all get together.

Sherry

Being that you own an ss you would agree to $50 or fee plus half if one of your clients needed the signing done on Thanksgiving, wouldn't you? Personaly I would rather spend Thanksgiving with my family. However with Christmas only a few weeks away I would gladly take it for an extra $50.

Re: Sherry

We normally pay closers $100 for edocs and charge our clients $150.....For a Thanksgiving Day closing, I would probably ask the closer what fee they would charge and go back to my client with it......I think a $200-$250 fee for a Thanksgiving Day signing (single loan of course) is perfectly acceptable. This is a Holiday so you are basically accomodating these people so I think its kind of a "name your fee" situation.

I would charge double....

Many years ago worked for a division of "United Technologies". Worked much overtime and was always paid time and a half. Had to work Thanksgiving one year and we were paid double time. Anytime over eight hours was always time and a half and anytime over 12 hours was double time. I would definately charge double for a holiday signing.

Re: I would charge double....

Jan that absolutely makes sence to me. In fact Grocery Clerks get triple time on holidays. Double is quite reasonable.

Re: I would charge double....

I think double would be appropriate...and no ss or TC should question whatever the notary charges as it IS a major holiday. Not too many SA's would be willing to work on a day that is normally reserved for family and tradition. I agree with Sherry - it's a "name your price" situation.
