Those checkbooks just aren't open wide enough

Yesterday during one of my weaker moments I accepted a signing from a PITA SS I swore I would not work for again. However, I decided to give them one more chance to prove that they had changed and accepted the signing. I haven't even gone to the signing yet, but I can tell they haven't changed.

At any rate, you know how nearly every package has one of those "refer your *enemies* form" ?? I have NEVER had a signing where someone actually put any referral information. This particular packet has the same form, although there is a form for myself to fill out and supposedly faxed to TC as to whether BOs signed, and if not, why ... blah, blah, blah. Then there is a section that I have never seen which asks if BOs filled out referral information and if not, what did I do in trying to get the information, and why I didn't get it. E-X-C-U-S-E M-E!! Guess I forgot to take my gun to the signing.

Did they say anything about a commission if you squeezed out referrals and the Lender got business from your work?

Now, Now Carolyn....

You have been a SA long enough to KNOW that you ALWAYS carry a gun or other weapon of choice, to ALL signings, just in case the borrower(s) decide they don't want to sign something!
As some of these PITA SS's will tell you, YOUR JOB is to FORCE the borrower to sign, REGARDLESS! JEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
LOL!
Seriously though, I've only had 1 signing, since so many have started using this form, where the BO actually put in information. Most others say that they have no desire to put in referrals.

I have seen a form similar to that.

I just write that I am not a loan originator for them. However, if they would like to engage my services as a loan originator, my fee will be XXX amount.

And since the borrowers are the ones that have to supply the names, they should also receive a commission check for doing loan company's work -- since the form is mandatory.

Talk about chutzpah!! Fortunately, I haven't seen one of those referral forms in a while (and never one asking me why the borrowers didn't complete it!). I think I'd be inclined to respond that: "I made the borrowers aware of the form and it's contents and they declined to fill it in. Further, as a neutral party, I felt it inappropriate to pursue it further."

For crying out loud! Thanks for reinforcing my decision to do my best to avoid requests from a certain lender who always asked for referrals...! (BTW, I did actually have a borrower fill in information on one of those one time. Fortunately, I managed to keep my poker face plastered on and didn't show my amazement!)

I usually just have BOs draw a diagonal line through it and initial. For this particular one, I think I'll take my big magic marker with me.

I explain that this is a borrower specific form and I can only explain it's purpose to the borrower., otherwise I would be practicing without a license. Loan originators in Oklahoma must be licensed.

Notarize your own handgun application!

Yes, once you got your commission, you were suppose to notarize your signature on your handgun permit. You see since there are forms in the package stating the lender and title company did not engage in coericive behavior, they want you to do it and get those referrals.
Be sure to take your handgun.
