What am I doing Wrong?

I have signed up with numerous companies and faxed everything requested. Yet I have only received a few calls. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it Just the time of year. TIA

Do you mainly sign up with ss's or go directly to the title companies to market yourself?

All of that faxing just kills me. I want to say FAX THIS! with my middle finger up in the air!

You're not doing anything wrong, unless you've only signed up with a few SS. It takes time. Be patient. Keep signing up with as many SS/TC as you can and wait.

Gotcha. How long have you been doing it? I take it you're already registered with NNA? Are certified? That usually helps a ton!

Not an NNA member either...

I don't think that has hurt me any and from the various postings about NNA on the forum, I'm not sure if it's worth it. Some people swear by NNA, others swear at it.

When advertising yourself (your profile) and in the comment section of the various SS web sites, be sure you note that you are "certified." If you have other real estate/loan related experience mention that as well.

Re: Not an NNA member either...

Yeah I have been debating joining the NNA as well I was going to until I read some of th posts it seems that for every pro there is a con to joinging them. I have listed that I am certified with all of th companies I have signed up for. Now I get to go fax accusigning another invoice to see if I can get paid for the ones idid for them over a month ago arghhhhhhhh. I am just frustrated I guess.

Re: Not an NNA member either...

There are 38 notary singing agents listed 15 miles within the 93534 zip code on rotnot. It might be that your area is a bit saturated?!?!

On 123Notary, I find over 70 within 30 miles 93534. (Some of these may be dups with those here at rotnot).

Yeah I just looked as well. It is a little discouraging but I did not get in this business to go belly p at the first sign of trouble or to let some peoples remarks discourage me.

Me too. Smiley

Also, you never know how many of those singing agents are as serious as you. Some may come, and some may go. You just keep going, learn as much as you can, marekt yourself, and you will be fine!!!

Re: srnotary

Ever heard the phrase it takes money to make money? If you are waiting to make money to invest in your business, you may as well hang up your shingle now and not waste anymore time with it.

As with any business, you need to have some start-up capital to invest in the business if you want to succeed. If you are not willing to invest $40, you're in the wrong business or may not be the self employment type.

Re: srnotary

As I said n my previous post I was going to and then came here and saw the posts. I did all the research prior to deciding to become a notary and have the start up capital and have invested it in quite a few things for htis business. I am more than willing to spend money to make money. That is not the issue. I guess i phrased that wrong when I answered that post. I apologise hands going faster than head. What I meant to say was I am debating on whether to spend the money for the membership or not.

Wow, good job on your 98%. Yes, some swear by it and some swear at it that's for sure. For me, I swear by it. I get a great deal of business from my listing on the NNA.

How many loans have you closed total to date?

I forgot to add; that's where I get most of my notaries as well. When I get calls to do closings 95% are ss calling from signingagent.com.

Re: SR... Where in Cali are you?

They are one in the same. signingagent.com is for ss's to look you up and for companies. Once you are listed with the NNA you are automatically put onto signingagent.com for companies to search you. But expedn_tx has a good point. See above post.

Re: SR... Where in Cali are you?

Thanks Anon. I also would lile to add that I also am a member of the NNA and listed on signingagent.com and find it beneficial. Especially for those that are just starting up the business. They are very helpful within their hours of operation.

Re: SR... Where in Cali are you?

That's ok. I have a friend who lives somewhat near me, about 25 miles and she gets twice as many calls as I do due to her area and she is very new too. I would think depending on the competition in your area and the range you choose is how they will pick you. Most all of the ss's do a zip code search on signingagent.com so every once and awhile I'll change my zip code just to see how the calls roll in at the end of the month. Right across the street from me is a diff zip.

Re: SR... Where in Cali are you?

Yeah that is not fun. I have advertised where I am willing to go as well so that is not an issue I have also stated how far i am willing to go that is included in my base fee. Like I said i thought this out and discussed it with my hubby extensively before i decided to do this. I know there are other notaries in my area. So my next question is how do I make myself stand out above the pack? LOl

Ok, this was my secret, but I'll let the cat out of the bag... LOL!!!

I find entrepreneur.com to be a great place to learn how to market yourself. If you are in the Frisco, TX area, this won't work for you. ;)

Good luck!!!

Re: SR... Where in Cali are you?

True. I happened upon the entrepreneur website when I started this business last year. I have been very lucky to have a wonderful mentor in FL that I can call when I have questions and concerns. I asked him how I could thank him...besides sending him a starbucks gift card, and he answered that I help other notaries out as well. I know there's a lot of healthy competition out there (as it should be), but I also think that working with others can benefit all. Hey, they might send work your way when they are busy. Just never backstab anyone.

I Agree with you completely

It would be nice to have a mentor and when i get more experienced to be able to mentor someone else. I am not one for backstabbing people nor am I one for discouraging someone when they are new to something.
