$35.00? Just say no!
Just got a call to do a deed signing in a town about 10 miles away at 8:00 tonight. Print the deed and a few other papers, we pay $35.00 is that alright? Now this would take me about 2 hours to do when you consider it's in a rural area, pasy heavy night time construction, wear and tear on my car, printing, etc. for $35.00. I don't think so!! Even at $50.00 it's a bargain, but no, we'll let you know. It gets me how some of these SS think. We provide a service, and if it needs tos be done right now, there is a price. That's what we as SA's need to remember. Oh well, back to the surf!

Why can't they find someone who is closer to the borrower if they don't want to pay what you are wanting?

These SS are too lazy to look further than the first name to come up in their search. So what if that SA is 500 miles from the signing. I am thinking some of these schedulers do make a commission or at the very least, a bonus of some sort for booking x number of signings. If this is not the case then I can't figure out just what their motivation is.

Well Lily, the reason I ask is because when I do searches I do it by zip code and generally I put in the SA's address and the borrowers address to see how far it is, it only takes a few extra seconds. I guess people are LAZY, meaning the SS'S! SS's MAKE GOOD MONEY and should work for it.

You know, for that price, I'd give the SS my address and tell them you expect the borrowers to show up, with the docs. Oh, and the borrowers would need to drop off to FEDEX afterwards. Wonder how far that cowpatty would fly??

Be careful there Danny. You are not doing a signing, per se, so the SOS has already told us that we can only charge our expenses, plus reasonable travel fee and the allowed notarization fee. The way I read the original post, it was for a general notarization of a deed and few other documents. Not a loan signing. Therefore, you need to take off your SA hat and leave your N hat on. (Did I misread the original post?)

I think you could reasonably say you are wearing the SA hat part of the time. The download and printing fee is $49.95. Travel and notarization is per state law.
