$35.00? Just say no!

Just got a call to do a deed signing in a town about 10 miles away at 8:00 tonight. Print the deed and a few other papers, we pay $35.00 is that alright? Now this would take me about 2 hours to do when you consider it's in a rural area, pasy heavy night time construction, wear and tear on my car, printing, etc. for $35.00. I don't think so!! Even at $50.00 it's a bargain, but no, we'll let you know. It gets me how some of these SS think. We provide a service, and if it needs tos be done right now, there is a price. That's what we as SA's need to remember. Oh well, back to the surf!

Let me get this right, 10 miles = 2 hours..Don't get me wrong 35 dollars is cheap. Look at this in a time thing.

10 papers signed = 10 minutes
20 miles = 20 minutes

$35/ 1/2 hour work.. not bad/ If I had nothing else on the plate why not. deed and a few junk docs... 10 miles away.. cake job.

Gotta agree with you Mike. If we're willing to take $100 for something that'll take 2 hours to complete, why not take an easy $35 for a quick drive? Single doc signings aren't the same as loan package signings, they're about the easiest and quickest money we can hope to make.

As I said, rural area, more than 20 minutes away. Nice if it were only 1/2 hours work!

You also need to consider the other things that are costing you for this $35.00. Like gas to get there toner to print the docs and the internet connection to receive them. THe phone to get the call on and there are other things to that cost. Yo uneed to come out ahead. Not pay them to let you work for them.

Ok lets figure it out then..

10 pages @ 7 cents a copy (this includes toner cost) $.70
20 miles x .50 mile = $10.00
internet cost.. .01
phone time.. I'll give you $ 1.00

Total cost of this deed signing = $11.71

Wooo that breaks the bank.. If you are going to spout off about cost figure them out first.

We could beat this horse to death with every cost involved, insurance, etc. We need to look at things like the location. As I said, this is not just a simple 10 mile drive. Knowing the area, there is heavy night time road construction, delays are anywhere from 20-30 minutes. The house is in a rural area, not street lighting, etc. As I said, this will probably take about 2 hrs, from the time I leave to the time I get back. Taking $35.00 - $11.00 = $24.00 = $12.00 per hr. Do you work for that amount?

Obviously in your case it's different. I don't really measure things in miles, but by time. And if I can make an easy $35 for a half hour's work, when most of that "work" is just driving to and from the location, I'll take it.

Exactly. Your time needs to be factored in as well as all the other costs. I too would take it if it were that simple.

20 miles = maybe 1 gallon of gas - [e-mail address]

Toner and paper to print out 20 pages - 25 cents

Internet connection to receive them - not a factor in each individual signing, that's a fixed business cost.

Still sounds like easy money to me.

I really hate to be the one to admit it first but in this thread I actually agree with Cali.
