backdating and journal
Just a curiosity question.
I wonder what the journal would look like if there was another closing between the actual date and the backdate requested.
Smith signs journal on 11/29/05 Tonight there is a closing for jones and backdated to 11/28/05.
Would be a little hard to explain the sequence in a journal if ever questioned. Would be hard to convince me that you went back because you "forgot" to have the journal signed.

lol. Yes, a little hard to explain, indeed. It amazes me that anyone asks notaries to back date on anything and it amazes me more that notaries do it.

Maybe anyone who backdates would not worry about any kind of journal either lol.

The sad truth is those notaries that do backdate usually don't get caught. How many times has your journal been audited?

Especially in MI, one of the states that doesn't require a journal ... they "suggest" it, and most of us 'by the book' types use it, but ... back-dating isn't exactly by the book, now is it?!
