BACKDATING
I just need to vent!!! Had an email closing scheduled for last night and the docs didn't arrive on time (SURPRISE, SURPRISE) needless to say I had other closings scheduled away from my PC and could not get home to print docs. Worked it out with the title company and borrower will reschedule. Get a call this morning asking if I could backdate docs. I'm really tired of this @#$%!!! Why are the SA always asked to cover up other's mistakes??? These edocs are a real pain in the %^&!

Let me guess. The company was MIS. They did the same thing to me last night. The docs were not emailed until 3 hours after the appointment time. They called the borrower and threatened to charge him $500 if he did not sign last night, and then they called the lender and said I refused to meet the borrower last night. This was the first time I ever accepted an order from them, and it will also be the last.

What is WRONG with some of these companies. They know darn good and well it is ILLEGAL to ask us to backdate, yet they do it all the time. I guess it just shows their professionalism.

I had a similar situation where I had to have some docs resigned because of the spouse and they wanted me to backdate the docs and of course I said that I was not allowed to do that. They said that because I saw the borrowers on both dates it would be fine. I knew better and had the papers resigned on the current date, but I wonder if some SS's really think it's legal??? Maybe SA's do it so often that people think it is ok??? The notary wording is very clear, and the day you notarize with the borrow there is the day the notarization gets dated. Glad you stuck to your guns MsRobbo!!!

I also had a signing company ask me to do a signing today and date the documents for yesterday, told them I like having my commission and am not going to put it into jeporady.

Had a broker say, "It's not kosher to backdate?" My reply was it had nothing to do with Jewish dietary laws, it's illegal.
