Conflict of Interest?

I am divorced and going on a cruise with my son next Spring. I have to get a notarized letter from his father authorizing me to take him on the cruise. Is this a dumb question, there's nothing financial involved, can I notarize the letter from the father? I think it's a little "too close for comfort"
any thoughts?

It's considered conflict of interest if you are benefitting somehow. Your benifit , you get to take your son with you. Also you are named in the document.

You have a personal interest in it. It doesn't only have to be financial.
