Fat Lady Offered Me Money For Sex!!!
Last night i was at a signing for a Signing Service in California and as the borrower was looking at her Settlement statement she asks to be excused and goes off into a room adjacent to the Kitchen where we were at. I was filling out my MoJo and she comes waltzing in with nothing on. Of course i freak out and ask her politley to put some clothes on and said that i would leave and that would screw up her home loan, and that this was not worth it. She starts to so stuff to herself and tells me that she would pay me for sex and that it had been a long time for her. I warned her once more and then left the appt. I called the signing service and let them know of the situation. They thought it was a riot, but i was disgusted and mad that i was put into that situation. In 2 1/2 years, i have really never had any situations that were bad until now!!!! I hope that it will be another 2 1/2 years before i have to deal with this crap again!!!! Is this a common occurrance, and what would you have done if this was you?? Thanks for your help!!!

charm, I'm surprised at your answer, Maybe it's a joke I didn't get, but maybe it's not. We all have to deal w/ crap or whatever in a number of situations, I wouldn't assume it's some sexist situation if it wasn't presented that way. You know as well as any other SA that's been around awhile, that the strangest situations can arise.

Think about it this way if the roles were reversed. A female SA goes to a male borrowers and he exposes himself and offers money for sex. It wouldn't make a darn bit of difference if was fat, thin, ugly, or hot. Now if that would have happened to me I would have left immediately and called the police. So now some of you are thinking that may be a bit to harsh. Allthough it is the borrowers home it becomes an office when we are doing business. It's not ok for even a moment whatever the sex of the parties are.

really funny....what i would have done in this situation would get the heck out of dodge as fast as i can. this lady messed up her home loan and not you. What is more important is that even though she offered you sex...it could have become a serious issue for yourself. she could have hurt you or even worse. you did the right thing in contacting people after you left, also you gave the borrower options. good job. always protect yourself. that is a rule that i live by

Re: Sarah, I'd have done the same...what's funny is "fat"
I wish it wasnt "funny" to identify this borrower as fat....it would not be seen as "funny" to say "Jewish woman offered me money for sex" or "black woman offered me money for sex" or even "handicapped woman offered me money for sex" but it is still a joke when its a fat chick. This story could have been as easily told with just "offered money for sex during signing" Sorry, this just annoys me a little.
Anonymous to protect the ID of the fatchick ;)

Then why didn't you? You write that *it would not be seen as "funny" to say "Jewish woman offered me money for sex" or "black woman offered me money for sex' or even "handicapped ..." "but it is still a joke when its a fat chick." -- I'm not a womens libber and I'm not even fat, however, I think you are rude and crude and whether borrower weighed 85 pounds, 110 pounds or 200 pounds, all that needed to be said was borrower removed her clothes and offered me sex. It sounds like you've got as big a problem with your own self-esteem as the borrower.

In my anger I didn't realize my post was coming through as Anon. I'm disgusted that the original Anon felt the importance of "fat" to make the post funny. I actually question the validity of the original poster.

The poster. complaining of the way an Anonymous contributor told a story of a bizarre signing where a nude fat lady propositions him, declares:
***It sounds like you've got as big a problem with your own self-esteem as the borrower.***
What renders the story funnier by describing the woman as "fat" is the visual. The story would not be nearly as humorous with a mental picture of a Pamela Anderson look-alike popping out of the bathroom. This is from someone who is probably 80 pounds over the height-weight charts himself, but who also earned his living most of his life as a professional writer.
The analogy of comparing obesity to Jewishness or being a member of a racial group that historically has been victimized by discrimination is fallacious. Being fat, except for that rarest of phenomena, the overweight person who is unable to metabolize calories properly, is a voluntary status; being Jewish or black is not. To equate the two is, in itself, offensive, much like comparing a stutterer with someone who spews offensive language.
And, incidentally, though there are many who might note I lack willpower at the dinner trough, none who has spent much time with me would say that I also lack self-esteem. In fact, the charge is much more likely to be arrogance.

Re: Sarah, I'd have done the same...what's funny is "fat"
As I've previously posted, I believe the story to be a crock by just another Anon who has taken over the boards. If truth be known, it is probably the same Anon who last week stated they slept with the Borrower who just happened to be of the same sex. That post didn't get much of a rise so I believe this is his second attempt.
See, that's one of the problems with being gutless, posting a fabricated story and hiding behind an Anonymous handle -- you all share the glory and the the scum with each other Anon.

Why a Crock?
Why does the story have to be a crock? Does it have to do with the fact that it was a male telling the story? Sure, if it was a female SA telling the story the post would have been titled "disgusting fat guy offered me money for sex". Then the post would have been so long that Harry would have had to buy another server to hold all of the posts. What is everyones hang up with anon posting? For all we know CarolynCO is not your real name and you might not even be from Colorado. If it is so what, who cares. Read what is being said and not who is saying it. Feel free to respond to them or not but do not bash them for how they choose to title themselves. If the SOS of a certain State posted a message on here as SOS_CO in all caps and misspelled a word, would you bash them and say that there is no way that they are the SOS of CO and there is no way you could be that person becuase you are shouting and misspelled a word or would you listen to what was being said not how it was being said. Not all men are pigs. I wonder how many men really watch "desperate Housewives" I maybe wrong but my guess would be not very many.

Actually, I didnt say anything about the esteem of anyone...I am just very disturbed that in this world of politial correctness, there is still one acceptible discrimination. Hugh's post and his attitude shows ignorance and insensitivity toward anyone with any physical flaw. Weight isnt purely a choice. I consume less than 1300 calories a day, thats when I eat anything at all. I pick at my food at every meal and rarely eat desserts. Willpower at the dinner table isnt my issue. I am active every day, with at least 30 min of walking daily...asside from the running around and did I mention dancing 3-4 times a week? I drink nearly 1/2 gallon of water a day. MAYBE 1 soda a week as a treat. I still weigh 220 lbs. I have a family history of obesity. I dont use it as an excuse, but I also have a much more difficult time losing than some of my thin friends that eat everything in sight and still drop 5 lbs by thinking about it. So Hugh, its STILL insensitive and in my opinon, wrong to think of the "fat woman" as funny.
STILL posting as anonymous...not the original poster though.

This was a bad situation. I would have left immediatly as well and also called the SS and let them know. This is not a common occurrance, and in my 22 years as a notary have never had this happen to me. I am too old to have a shock like this in my life.

Personally...I would had also called the police for the record incase she tried to throw in the stupid accusation of you trying to "rape" her. There are a lot of sick people out there...it would been better to be safe then to be sorry later. I would suggest you still call the police an explain the situation. She exposed herself, in her home or not...it was indency exposure and that is a crime...after all it was your "office" and that is call sexual harrassment.
I could be wrong...but its a thought.

how is that threatening or attempting to brbe a public official???? its covering your ass incase this lady says soemthing different than what really happened. God forbid she claims he did it or attempt to "rape" her. We live in a very crazy and sick world and ppl will do anything to blame others or make the others look bad when they are purely innocent.
its like me saying that it is ok for someone to use my CC without my permission and i let them by not reporting it. It is a crime to steal...as it is wrong for indency exposure. its protecting him...NOT bribing!!!!
or am I missing something here????

The MoJo is the journal sold here as the Modern Journal of Notorial Events. No I didn't get mine from here. It came with the supplies that I recieved from my classes. But I'll tell you what, I really like it. When I need a new journal I'll be ordering here. It is a great journal that makes entering notorial acts simple and concise.

1stopnotary, I think what anon meant was that a notary is a public official, so therefore the "bribe" of sex for money. It's not the true definition of a "bribe" for sure, but certainly is precarious situation.
The threatening part could be interpreted lots of different ways. This male SA definitely had a lot to deal with - if the original post was true, and I'm not at all sure it was or wasn't. If it was true, then it could go badly unless he documented everything that happened, including calling the police.
Regardless of the sex of the borrower or SA, this is not to be tolerated, ever. Every SA needs to take the appropriate steps to protect themselves.
However, if you are a Texan...the rules are different. When in Rome.....all bets are off!!

OMG! I laughed and laughed when I read this post! The world is full of strange people, and poor you..you just happened to run into one of them. I dealt with a man who was the manger of a nudist colony.. oh boy what fun THAT closing was! It takes all kinds, and I guess you should chalk it up to a bad experience. By the way, you did handle it with grace & tact? Professionalism goes a longgg way.. even at a bad closing.

I WOULD NOT OF GIVEN HER THE CHANCE TO GO GET DRESSED, OR A HIM IN MY CASE. I WOULD OF WALKED OUT. I HAVE WALKED OUT OVER LESS. I DONT PUT UP WITH CRAP FROM CUSTOMERS. THE FIRST THING I SAY IS, I AM JUST YOUR NOTARY, MY JOB IS TO VIEW YOU SIGNING THE DOCS, NOTHING MORE. OFCOURSE I DO EXPLAIN THEM ALL AS I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS OVER 11 YEARS. I WAS TRAINED BY A TITLE COMPANY TO PROTECT THE TITLE COMPANY.
I HAVE HAD PEOPLE YELL AT ME, I HAVE REFUSED TO GO INTO A HOUSE BECAUSE OF PEOPLE ON THE ROAD, I HAVE HAD GUNS PULLED ON ME. I NOW HAVE A LIST OF ZIP CODES I WILL NOT GO INTO. THEY CAN MEET ME AT A PUBLIC LIBRARY OR POLICE STATION OR TUFF LUCK.
YOUR LIFE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND MAN DO GET RAPED, NOT AS OFTEN BUT IT DOES HAPPEN SO BE CAREFUL. IF SOMETHING DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT, IT NORMALLY IS NOT.

I feel for you. My husband works for a large corporation that does house calls and this does happen to the guys and has for years. One of the other notaries on the board mentioned a couple of years ago, if he is going to a signing and it is a woman alone on the note he has her meet him in a mutual location.
