First time refilling toner for HP3015

Just wondering if the toner cartridge has to be emptied of the used toner first? I just dont want to screw this up......

I've never done that. I think PAW posted long ago that you don't need to.

Re: The instructions are HORRIBLE!

You can call me, I'll talk you through it. Just remember You're bigger than the cartridge is.

It is easy.

If you are careful, you can make a smaller hole than they suggest. Place the cartridge in the sink(mine is stainless steel. I drill maybe a 7/8th inch hole. Take a piece of copy paper, roll it into a cone shape and put a piece of tape on it. Stick the small point of the cone into the hole. Pour the toner bottle into the cone and let it flow into the toner cartridge. I pour a couple ounces at a time and then tilt the toner cartridge. Then pour some more. Takes a couple minutes. Take a dry paper towel and wipe off excess toner. Then take a damp rag to get any remainer. Dry the cartridge careful. Place a piece of tape over the hole. You are done.

((Note after the hole is drilled, a friend of mine wraps the cartridge in a plastic garbage bag and then pokes a hole in the plastic with a pencil and inserts the paper cone. Then most of the excess tone is on the garbage bag. After filling, slide out of the garbage bag. Wipe of any excess toner and place tape over the hole.))

I always keep a new toner cartridge from Officemax on hand in case the refill one should go bad, but I have not used my reserve spare in over a year.
