Did you try to go into your programs and click on your printer and then click on troubleshooting then click on printer wont print it will run a program and hopefuly it will tell you whats wrong. I know this may be a silly question but is it pluged in and coming on.

Yep, did all that. And it is plugged in. I'm at my wits end. It's only 6 months old.

Calling ND-WA - where are you? Bev, if you can find
Andy's email, he's a whiz on lots of these electronic things. PAW's the HP go-to-guy, but for Brother, I'd also see what ND-WA (Andy) thinks.

There's Andy's profile, if you care to look, but it sounds like Eugene T might have a good suggestion.

Brenda You cannot put a link in here to someone's profile. Anyone but you clicking on the link will have to "log in" again, your ID is in the link. (This is how Harry can keep track on who is viewing the profile)

I had this happen once and found that the paper in the front of the tray was extended upward and a piece of paper was partially loaded. I could barely see the edge of the paper. I pushed the paper tray down and gently pulled the paper back out, restarted the system and printer and then it worked.

No test page ran. The light should be green, but it is orange (status). All the paper is fine.

Did you try to press the go button to erase any errors

Is there power on or to the printer (any brinking light)? Have you try what Eugene suggested? Basically, you might have something stuck in the paper path, your paper tray or something is not closed all the way (toner cartrige/door).
If this is software related on the printer only, then 1. you can try to do a cold start by holding donw the "GO" button and turn the power switch on at the same time.

Did what Eugene said, nothing. Just did what you said. Nothing.

I have seen this happened before. I don't exactly know why but the printer was waiting for a manual feed. Once I tried that the orange button went away and printed on the paper fed manually. Hope it helps.

I've had this problem w/both my Brother HL printers. I finally just took them to a reliable shop, one at a time. He cleaned and made adjustments, they now work just fine.

Only thing I can think of...
is the chip on your toner cartrige has reached its count. The printer won't do anything until you replace with a new cartrige or the chip itself.

I had that very same thing happen to me. I turned it off and after about 20 minutes it worked - for awhile. I called Tech Support and they couldn't figure it out either. I would call them and see if they won't replace the printer for you. Hope you still have all of your receipts.

You didn't mention this....try pulling the printer cable out of your PC and then putting it back in again. Once mine became loose and this was the problem.
I printed out the entire printer manual for the 5150DLT when I bought it, and it doesn't mention anything else in the trouble shooting section, other than what has already been suggested by others.

I have a 5270DNLT that did the same thing right in the middle of printing a pkg on Friday. It took me about 10 mins to figure out that it was out of toner.....replaced the cartridge and it took right off and finished the print job. Hope this is your only problem.

Don't these Brother printers give any kind of "low toner" warning before they just give out? That kind of concerns me, since yours stopped printing right in the middle of a job. Guess I'd better keep track of how many pages I've printed out so I can kind of guage when it will need a new toner cartridge!

BetsyMI
Pay attention to the orange/yellow LED on your printer, if it stays lid or blink when you're not printing then that's an indication that your toner is running low. Some printers will keep on going even after numerous refill of the cartrige.

Re: BetsyMI
Thanks Nd_WA...I see that there are buttons on the top of the printer that say "drum", "toner", etc. Printer is above me so I failed to see those before.
Thanks for the tip!

I'm at work now, but I will try that when I get home. I've tried everything else. And I did pull the cables out from the printer. Need to get it fixed. No printer, no edocs.

Let me know if that works, since I have the same printer! Good luck!

I have the same printer. Is it out of toner? When this printer runs out of toner, it just stops. Other than that, can't imagine what the problem is. Are there any lights blinking?
