Notary Luncheon. Anyone Interested?
Are there any notaries interested in attending a luncheon? I would like to host a luncheon in San Diego, Orange County, San Jose and Santa Rosa. Various topics open for discussion. Let me know if there is a particular topic you would like to talk about or would like further information on. There will be door prizes, guests speakers, you can exchange ideas and stories, and meet some new people in the business. Depending on the response and interest I receive will obviously depend on when and where the luncheon can be scheduled. Plus the holidays are upon us all and I'm sure many will be spending them with family, friends and on vacations.
If anyone is interested, please email me at [e-mail address]

I agree with DellaCA. I think you'll get a much more positive response if you don't post anonymously. The question that comes to mind for me right away is what would be your incentive for "hosting" these meetings? Or are you just talking about organizing some get-togethers with some of the people that post here? It sounds like more than that to me, since you are talking about a wide geographic range.
In case you weren't already aware, notaries (SAs) on another board (?) have had luncheon gatherings here before. I think there was one recently in northern California. Southern CA had one end of September, I think, and I heard the next one might be in or near the San Diego area (or organized by someone from there). I wasn't able to attend the last one, so I'm not certain about that.
Please let us know what your objective is and at least some info about yourself and you will likely get a better response. jmo

A luncheon sounds fine, but let us know what is on your agenda. Have you thought of inviting escrow/mortgae industry as well so we can network?

National Signing Service Association?
Please let us know who you are and what company you represent. I'm guessing from your email address that you are NSSA ASSOC. (National Signing Service Assoc) at http://www.nssassoc.org/mc/page.do
Networking is great and works wonders for my business by networking with businesses in various marketing sectors and passing referrals. What are your objectives for the luncheon? Networking, education, information, sales, recruitment, what? Who would your guest speaker(s) be?
Please don't hide behind the ANONYMOUS door - it isn't very credible.
Tell us more.

Joe Ewing Already Comitted to Next So California Meeting
The last Southern California Networking Luncheon was hosted by me and Connie Adams in Temecula, and Joe Ewing will be hosting the next event in San Diego, probably AFTER the holidays. He does not read or post here so I'll get with him and see if he's picked a date (I see him on GMN often).
I would be cautious of a signing company or signing service hosting a meeting -- I remember those creepy guys from SigningZ who spoke at a luncheon in LA last year... their agenda was clear and it was NOT to our benefit, only theirs.

I also Suspect..
That this "person" has already attended one of our functions as a SA since in the initial post, they described our last function to a "Tee" including the promise of door prizes.

Re: Notary Luncheon.
Yes I did attend a luncheon hosted by Blis Roberts in San Jose. She was wonderful and did an excellent job. She asked at the time if anyone was willing to host another and I volunteered. I am from the National Signing Service Association. I believe in what I am trying to accomplish with this organization. I too was a signing agent that decided to establish my own signing service. I know what its like to not be paid for my work or not feel like I was being paid enough for my time and effort. On the other hand as a signing service I also know what its like to work with an un qualified notary/signing agent.
I am trying to establish an association where both parties can work together. So that both sides of this industry can have confidence that they are working with reputible companies and persons.
I don't see any good that comes from signing services and notaries to each have thier own "do not work with lists". A signing service may post somewhere not to work with a particular notary because of something that happened which in truth was not the notaries fault. And a notary may have a signing service listed on a do not work with list beause of a bad experience, and yet other notaries have worked well with that same company. I just feel like something needs to be done about the huge "rift" that seems to be developing between signing services and notaries. There are SO many complaints from both sides.
I am sorry if there are some out there that are "suspiucious". The reason for me wanting to host these luncheons is that I need involvement, ideas, and participation from both notaries and signing services. I can't do this alone.
