Depends on how much you want to spend, I can give you a whole list of what's out there.

Do a google search on lap tops. You can get ratings on lap tops and come up with a good choice. I bought a Dell 6000. I'm happy with it.

I'm also shopping for a new laptop - last Compaq just died at age 7, one prior to it was Compaq, also lasted 7 years BUT in/out numerous times for repairs. This time, I'm going for something else - twice when I sent it for repairs it took 6 weeks to make it back home!

I'm looking into Sony and Toshiba - recommended by the person who handles laptop purchases for state employees, and I figure that's a LOT of laptops. Said they were best for not needing repairs. Of course, these aren't on the cheap side, as I'm finding.

Let me know what YOU find out! I've also found some sweet discounts from CompUSA (I like to buy hardware locally, in case it does need repair) when you establish a business account.

I have a lot of experience in this arena, having made laptop and desktop recommendations to a Fortune 200 company for almost a decade.

Go with a Dell Latitude D610 or D510, or a ThinkPad R Series or T Series, making sure you purchase the on-site servicing, and you won't be disappointed. Most laptop and desktop hardware is considered a commodity these days, so the servicing and warranty agreements are the real selling points.

Suggestion

Get a lap top with a wireless internet connection
Can be arranged through your cell phone service
I am sure that there are other ways to do it
You would be amazed how convenient it is to be able to access your e-mail or go on line from just about anywhere.
Also might suggest that you call Computer Discount Warehouse 800-800-4239
Very knowledeable sales people and great customer service , right here in the good old USofA( not routed to Bombay)
You will pay a shade more than SAMS or e-bay, but the service more than compensates.

Now that is a very good idea.
