Q. for oversigning a name (NY)
I had a signer this morning that was listed as John S. Doe...but he signed as John Samuel Doe. His license supports the full middle name, but is it going to be a problem that he signed his full middle name, even though only his middle initial was on the docs?
Thanks so much! Toni (NY)

did the AKA statement/affidavit list the full name, if not, did you add it, and did he sign all the docs with full name?

I added the full name on the AKA and he signed all docs with the full name, but all the docs only had his middle initial
Thank you

There's a decent chance the TC will accept the docs with the oversign. The question is the DOT. Therein lies the problem. Good chance it won't record.

I had one a few weeks ago all 150 page loan docs w/Cathy L. Jones, Name affidavit Cathy L. Jones... title docs Cathern L. Jones, ID Cathern L. Jones. Called title co and they said have her sign loan docs as they are printed (Cathy L) which she did. I decided to her add aka Cathern L. Jones to name affidavit.
AND....She also initialed appropriate pages w/CJ NOT CLJ on DOT. I asked her to put in all 3 initials on appropriate pages so DOT can be recorded properly and she responded back with she never uses middle initial and wouldn't do it and said whats the big deal since some docs were Cathy and some were Catherine. I put a note on DOT about middle initial not being on DOT. Hasn't been recorded yet. Haven't heard from TC.

I don't know about other states, but MD doesn't require initials on each page of DOT. Doubt if many, if any, states require it.
