Strangest place you have ever performed a closing
Yesterday I call a borrower and he asks "We can do this closing anywhere, right"? I am thinking to myself this is going to be interesting. It ended up being not so bad, but he wanted, and we did, the closing in my truck. I just meet him at the street corner he told me to and we hoped in. He was on his to meeting a friend at the bar. What are your experiences with strange closing locations?

Maybe not strange but not the most comfortable place to do a signing. Yesterday I was asked by a title company to facilitate a signing for an out of town businessman. I ended up meeting the borrower at Chilis restaurant. He had already ordered two beers and dinner. The signing went relatively fast considering the tightly packed area we were in--the bar. I had to bring my portable copier inside to use the restaurants' three prong sockets.
Here's to another successful signing....at Chilis no less!

Not really strange, - different
Bar (bartender was borrower) Libraries ( for out of state borrowers who crossed from DE to avoid attorney fees) Boat At airport during borrower's layover - he was on a business trip to England for 3 weeks. Truck stop on interstate - another split signing Lots of restaurants - borrower picks up tab.

Re: Art, it sounds like we have the same borrowrs
Never at a bar, airport or boat, but have done it inside my vehile in the parking lot of a quick stop gas station; inside the borrower's garage on the trunk of his car; truck stop - split signing; Denny's; Starbucks; and the latest fast food place was at Chick Filet so borrowers' kids could play while we did the signing. The Chick Filet had to be the worst because it was lunch time. The table was very small with nothing on it -- put food/trays for four people, the two small kids running back and forth grabbing a bite and then going back to play on the play equipment, my brief case and docs, plus the closeness of the other tables and chairs -- needless to say, it was a pretty cozy/tight signing.

It would have to be in a prison. The husband was in jail. No sure what for. But was not going to ask. Did not want to know

I've done more than one signing on the trunk of my car (Saturn). One was for a guy who was heading out of town before the 2004 Hurricanes (Jeanne). He pulled into the parking lot of the Clock and we signed before he got in line to hit the road. The second trunk of car signing was a couple who worked in two different directions. The only way to get both in one place was at a rest stop on I-95, so we met and did the signing at the rest area. The third time was after my car broke down on the way to the borrower's house. I called them and let them know that it would be awhile before I could retrieve another vehicle, so they met me at the broken down car and we signed.

I had one last that the guy didn't want "anyone inside knowing my business." So I followed him to a Wendy's (I wasn't about to let a stranger into my car and it was getting dark).

Well! This just happened yesterday! Borrower wanted to meet downtown at a marketplace food court. There was a motivational seminar going on in Colisium, so of course I could not find anywhere to park! All of the parking decks were full and after riding around for about 40 minutes (calling borrower the whole time because I was late of course), he finally asked if I could pick him up and we go somewhere else to do signing. He also needed to get a copy of his D.L. made, so I since I was only 10 minutes away from home, I asked him if he minded we go there in my office (of course my hubby was home or I would have been a little nervous to do that). Also told him I could make a copy of his D.L. for him. It only took 20 minutes for the signing and I dropped him back off downtown! Interesting. He was a very nice man too! You really do meet nice folks in this line of business.

I had a signing in a hair salon. The borrower was a stylist and signed docs while snipping a clients hair. I was in a "hair dryer" chair, no table. Didn't take too long though as she wasn't a reader, but Oh the fumes!

I had a signing done at the airpot where the borrowers and witnesses were coming from out of state and from different places. They were still in transit and were leaving to different places after the signing. We had only 1 hr to make it happen and we did!

My first signing was in a hair salon in the middle of the mall. The borrower was getting her hair dyed and was wearing a cap and bright blue hair dye. Had to stop the closing numerous times so the stylist could wash the dye out of borrower's hair.

In a hair salon, in a Firestone workshop and my favorite, in a parking lot on the trunk of my car for a divorce, surrounded by police.

Wow. I am always happy when the borrower is attractive, but I would have never thought that would happen.

On horseback in the middle of nowhere. BO asked if I could ride, told him yes, he left another guy at the house to take me up to where he was, signing took 45 minutes, then spent 2 hours helping him round up stray cattle. That was one of my all time favorites! Also have signed in Denny's, McDonalds, the Library and A nail salon, where the only place to sign was at the table where you have your nails done, NO room to move! It's amzing the interesting people you have the opportunity to meet in this business!

Mine was also a manicure station in a hair salon. Not too bad except the wrist rest was fixed in place and so it took a bit of juggling.

I had a truck driver who needed to sign documents and I had to follow him on his route. He made two stops before I caught up with him and then I handed the documents up to him in his cab and he signed comfortably there. However, I was juggling papers down on the street but it got done.

In a barn full of goats. LOL Luckily, I used to have a horse so it really didn't bother me.

When I was a "newbie" in the business, I worked full time in a Funeral Home. Many borrowers loans were closed in the casket selection room or the arrangements room. It was great for both business.

Strangest place I have ever done a closing was at the county jail. The son was in jail but had to sign on the docs. And to make it worse, he had to be in a seperate area so we worked thru a glass window. Twice he signed in the wrong place and I had to give the guard the copy and havehim re-sign that page correctly. To make matters worse, the mother was legally blind and in a wheelchair.

I've done a few at film studios. Did one in the editing room of the upcoming Jim Carrey movie "Fun with Dick and Jane", so I got to see part of that while she was signing. Also did one on the set of the new show "The Night Stalker".
Another strange place was at a picnic table at a school while a little league was in progress, the signer was the coach of the team.
