Two threads/two reactions

Over the weekend, two separate incidents were posted. Nd posted how Borrowers stuck a gun in his back. I am disappointed that it was downplayed with "did you contact the borrowers first?" The second thread about a *naked fat chick* offering the SA money for sex.

I believe Nd's story, although I am skeptical of the second. If true, both are serious. If the SS actually believed the fat naked chick to be a riot, post the name of the service because I don't want to be associated with such a company that doesn't see the seriousness and/or danger of such a situation. If it's a joke, use e-mails or become a stand-up comic, but don't degrade the professionalism of the job here.

Until Harry takes away the Anonymous posting privilege, this is what the board has become and will only continue to get worse.

Re: Two threads/two reactions...Carolyn et al

Don't know if you read the entire thread, but yes I did contact the borrower and I also responded under the clarification post to Lawrence.

***Nd posted how Borrowers stuck a gun in his back.*** The gun was not in my back but I know Mr. B had a gun behind his back.

I posted the incident not for sympathical reason, but for us (SA) to know what risk/danger is out there.

Re: Two threads/two reactions...Carolyn et al

There are a lot of things to learn about being a notary. I for one as a new notary am glad that I found this board. I am still early into this so have not had a bad signing as of yet. But I value the help from the people here who are experienced and take the time to help others out. If some one is going to post an experience it may help another notary as to how to deal with certain situations. Unfortunately we are all put into bad situations inevitably but the way we deal with them is the way we as a person will shine or if we handle it wrong Give all notaries a bad name making thisbusiness harder than it really is.

Nd, where in Washington are you? I am in the Seattle area and was just wondering where this happened.

Thanks

I think ND has a point about the risk and danger.

I for one have turned down jobs that take me into questionable or "bad" areas especially after dark.

Re: They need 2 seperate forums....

one forum for the Professional Notary. And the other for the Jerry Springer crowd. Did you ever notice it always sounds like the same folks posting the rhetoric? I guess they figure we're not smart enough to recognize thier "writing style" when they post anonymously.

Needless to say, some of us are professionals and some are not. It's no wonder the good SA's suffer from the bad reputation of these people. Many of my TC and SS clients read what is written here. It certainly doesn't instill confidence nor is it a practical way to market your skills to the general public. Unless, of course, your only skill is being obnoxious and abusive towards others. In which case, it's a shame the owner of NotaryRotary doesn't run them off permanently.

Why does the story have to be a crock? Does it have to do with the fact that it was a male telling the story?
Sure, if it was a female SA telling the story the post would have been titled "disgusting fat guy offered me money for sex".
Then the post would have been so long that Harry would have had to buy another server to hold all of the posts.
What is everyones hang up with anon posting? For all we know CarolynCO is not your real name and you might not even be from Colorado. If it is so what, who cares. Read what is being said and not who is saying it. Feel free to respond to them or not but do not bash them for how they choose to title themselves.
If the SOS of a certain State posted a message on here as SOS_CO in all caps and misspelled a word, would you bash them and say that there is no way that they are the SOS of CO and there is no way you could be that person becuase you are shouting and misspelled a word or would you listen to what was being said not how it was being said.
Not all men are pigs. I wonder how many men really watch "desperate Housewives" I maybe wrong but my guess would be not very many.

I agree with you 110% Airborne. I for one don't watch "Desperate Housewives" - it's just not me - my wife sure loves it though. She wouldn't miss an episode.

The red flag crock signal is the ss thinking it was a "riot" and not taking it as the serious incedent that it was. That coupled with the author feeling compelled to mention the size of the borrower. So the story is questionable, yet it does make you think of how this type of thing should be handled.

My concern is the general bias of the SS and others that this is not a true story or we find it funny. We say there is no way this happened to a man because all they think of is sex and use what is between there legs to make decisions.
What would have happened if the author claimed that he was raped by this women. Once again screams of no way he is a man and she a woman, that just does not happen. The statement of her being fat would of had more validity if he was 125 pounds and she over powered him with here size.

If you go back to the thread and read my responce you'll see that we are in agreement. To me it's a bit fishy but a situation that if true should be taken completely seriously.

Anon posts are suffocating the board...IMHO

**What is everyones hang up with anon posting?**

Since you asked Airborne....you will see there is plenty to be hung up about....

Let me see if I can verbalize my opinion on why anon is getting old and making it pretty unrewarding to read.

Anon posters are suffocating this board.

Those who do not "love" this board...or who do not have a bit of "loyalty" for lack of a better word for this "community" of colleages would ask such a question. You don't care if it is here next year or not. I do...but it will not be the same or worth much in intellectual/educational/ entertainment value to me if the anons do not become identifiable.

Anon handles make it uninteresting to come to the community to exchange idea, discuss...anything. I am bored with the same old anon vampire action, new verse same as the first. It's all about the anon saying "gimme...and gimme now."

Non-anon posters - or with handles --usually build relationships...build trust between one another... contribute answers...they are more real, more credible, they are identifiable. In a work-at-home environment, a forum like this is the breakroom...it's the only thing that keeps us together so that we can realize that not everyone is taking $25 jobs.

I look forward to hearing from this forum's IDENTIFIABLE posters...or I look forward to hating something they wrote. I respect their opinions and the content they contribute. Their questions are fresh and they are not just another block of words that beg for help.

=========

In general, the Anons want the board to be here when they need something--more often than not ,anons are just takers and they want what they want -- they do not intend to put forth time or effort to develop the content of the board. When they get tired of this gig, or when they think they know enough to get started they are done until they need something again.

There are a few different types of anons which I have noticed posting here...

Foot tapping Anon - just wants their questions answered - and you know the type...clearly the users and the takers sucking the blood of the board. Uses free membership. Will get mad when they read this post. Will probably think this post is about them!

They will never help and as soon as they get what they want, they are gone. They come to query, lurk and not give back. They are the kind of parents that don't buy the bike that the child wants for Christmas...they buy the child whatever's on sale even though they could have well afforded the desired item. They seldom pay a penny more than their share of the coffee fund...never offer to call in lunch...never offers to take their car. Very small little people.

Dumb Anon - Like the dumb blonde, they are as dumb as a fox...and they like to pretend to be really dumb...it gets attention. But, they don't want to be thought of as "dumb" and they want someone to cheer them on and say: "Oh poor sweet Dumb Anon, there are no dumb questions! I will be glad to tell you how to write in your venue...find proper wording for an ack, etc. because if it were not for dumb people, I would not have anything to contribute to this forum either! I like to keep dumb notaries as dumb as possible so I can answer questions they really needf to learn the answers to. "

(Dumb Anons should try their hand at working for someone else who can tell them WHAT TO DO ALL DAY to counter-act the dumb they pretend to be...See they are not dumb, they are manipulative. On the old 8-5 job they are the ones who make it so dang hard to explain how to do something that you finally realize that it is easier to do it yourself than to try to explain anything to their high maintenance dumb-@ss act. Pretty soon you pay them just to go hide somewhere until 5 pm so they stop asking you dumb questions while you are finishing your work...and theirs. Dumb anons need lots of attention. They come here to get people to tell them things they can learn on their own just to get the posters engaged with them. God forbid they use Google! There is not any attention paid to you if you are alone and using google. No...they like for people to cater to them. And, if you don't..."waaaaah." They will make you pay.)

Spoonfeed Me Anon - Since 90% of the anon questions are questions that a non-lazy person could find fairly quickly, the anon also does not want to be known for being too lazy to do searches...but they are, Babbs! They are really lazy!. Spoonfeed please.

Schoolyard Bully Anon - wants to bully without being known for the type of infantile individual they are. Very critical. Wants to police the board at times...burn it at others.

Anon God/Goddess - legalistic, critical and judgmental anon...not really sure of themselves and cannot stand for others to know if they make a mistake. Very thin skinned.

Handled/Not-so-Anon - Uses handle rather than real name because too many psychotic Anons post and read here. Handled Anon contributes to board...is identifiable...does not talk to oneself on the board...does not create a new profile every day.
-----
When you get a bunch of anons posting and taking day after day...well, it makes the board ineffective and boring. People with names dwindle...newcomers try to help each other but don't really have a clue. Pretty soon even the anons go find another host to infect with their parasitic behaviors.

The anons come here because the answers are here. If they wanted to be in Stupid Notary Forumville, there are several around...but people don't post there much anymore....hmmm.

I don't think Harry will watch it turn into that. With the valuable content on this website, and the traffic, Harry could turn this board into a pretty penny without much effort. This is a very valuable site as an asset - ka-ching style.

He won't let it turn to anon dropppings.

Brenda...

I wholeheartedly agree with you on your opinions of anon. I've always felt that it is a cowardly way to hide behind a wall and attack or berate others and to get basic notary info and not be embarrassed. However, I have been reading this board for almost a year now, and I personally do not think Harry intends to get rid of that feature. If it were gone, I believe the die hard cowards will register free profiles in new names all day long. There will still be that element that will constantly irk us. I've thought over the last couple of weeks that this forum has become mighty boring and thought of taking my hiatus for awhile. Not only for anons but for the silly things that people attack and argue about, it's been reduced to high school level. I miss the 'old-timers' that have just about disappeared and one day, I'm gonna quit too. You're right, there are too many people now, offering advice that is not state specific and some real bitter people who look for posts to attack. I'm so tired of posts that ask about printers and faxes, it seems constant lately...there's tons of info! What do we have the search button for? It's all gone silly. I try to catch up and have 'pages and pages' to back thru. My new opinion is, if we see a ridiculous anon post like what's a reverse mortgage or a fat lady sex post, let it go...don't respond. Harder than it looks, I know.

"For all we know CarolynCO is not your real name and you might not even be from Colorado."

If you have been following this board for any length of time, you would know that Carol is her real name and she is actually located in CO.

I kind of like "Airborne" as a handle though, makes think about virus'. Not that you are a virus, it just makes me think of one. Smiley Well, that or jumping out of planes in the military.
