Would you bill twice?
I had a signing on Saturday which the signers decided to cancel because they were not comfortable with some of the figures and they couldn't get a hold of the LO or TA. They called me today to finish the signing which brings me to my questions. Since I completed my obligation to sit down with them on Sat and they decided to cancel do I charge another fee for today?

Yes!!!! especially if you completed the signing. Its NOT your fault the borrower or the TC decided to cancel at the table at the first signing. Now they are taking up more of your time the 2nd time and you should still get paid for it. This happened to me too..however the SS thinks they should not pay me for the whole thing when tehy should and they will be bill for the whole thing as I was there originally. I'm NOT loosing out on funds cuz they dont want to pay me. It took time out of my family (late at night) and it was a last minute thing. He shorted me on the confirmation and I will approch him about it.
but the answer is YES!!

If you notified the company that hired you in the first place and they authorized a second trip. If you went out there without being hired for a second trip you may have a large problem collecting a second trip fee.
If they did in fact authorize a second trip then by all means bill for it.

I agree with Don. I've had a borrower call me to come back, but I said I might not be the one that gets the signing that night. I was as it turned out, but I didn't want to go around the SS or TC.

It is your responsibility to a) advise the SS of the borrower's refusal to sign on Saturday thru at least a voice message or email, and b) to follow back up with them on Monday and let them know borrowers now wanted to reschedule for that day. THEY need to be aware of and authorize your second visit. You should also be aware of the company's policy on no-signs; some companies will only pay a trip fee for those. I'm assuming also that the docs were not date sensitive for Saturday only and could still be signed on Monday.
You will be hard-pressed to collect for the no-sign if you didn't comply with their policies.

What I don't understand here is that now the documents have a different date than the date they will be signed. Isn't that a problem? Or are you notarizing backdating? This usually represents a big problem for SS & TC's I work for. They want everything the same date.
